Who Am I???

A lot of us...especially us girls....
have probably asked the question,
"Who am I"?
So many times I've made the comment that I'm Pappy's wife, and Jess' Mom, but felt like I really didn't have an identity of my very own. I love the song "Who Am I"....and in the song it's actually asking, "Who am I that God would choose me to love and care for and die for"?
Even though most of us at times feel like we just sort of get lost in the crowd....
God still knows us as individuals...
and loves us as individuals!!!
I've used some of these verses of scripture in past posts, but I feel God leading me to share these verses with you all again...maybe you're a new visitor to this blog and you need to be reminded of God's love for you....or, maybe, even though you've read and heard it all before...you, just for today...for something that happened to you in the past week...for something you've just found out...for a burden you're carrying....you need to be reminded once again that there is "a friend that sticketh closer than a brother" (Proverbs 18:24)
Try to remember some of these when you get to feeling like you aren't really anybody special...because you are...we all are!!!
Jeremiah 1:5 (NLT)
"I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb".
Can you even begin to imagine what this verse is saying???
It just excites me and makes me feel so very special...that God knew me...knew all about me....even before "HE" formed me in my Mom's tummy!!! This verse of scripture...in my opinion...can be the entire basis for how wrong abortion is, that it is definitely taking a life...not just a fetus...but a LIFE....
a LIFE that HE formed!!!!!
Psalm 56:8 (NLT)
You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.
He knows our sorrows....we're not alone in any kind of suffering we're going thru. He knows the tears that we shed, He sees each of them fall...and He's right there to bring us comfort, all we have to do is ask!!!
Psalm 139:2 (NLT)
You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.
Don't ever think that God isn't watching, or paying any attention to us. If He even knows when we sit down, stand up, lay down...then, He also knows when we fall down, when we kneel down, when we've lost all strength.
And...don't think that we can run away from God.
HE SEES...
AND KNOWS...
EVERY SINGLE LITTLE THING THERE IS TO KNOW ABOUT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US!!!
We cannot hide from Him...we cannot run away from Him...and, this also means...we cannot sin without Him knowing it.
Isaiah 41:13 (NLT)
For I hold you by your right hand—
I, the Lord your God.
And I say to you,
"Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you".
This one is probably one of my very favorites. As I read this verse, I was reminded of something that a friend of mine told me several years ago. She had lost her husband and she was so troubled and burdened down with grief...and she was afraid of living by herself. She told me that one night she had been in bed crying....and, you know how if you're in bed and somebody sits down on the bed, you can tell it...you can feel the mattress move...she said that was what happened, and she just felt like it was God sitting down on the bed and letting her know that He was right there with her...and she was able to close her eyes and go to sleep.
WOW!!!
"I hold you by your right hand".
Isn't that exactly what a friend would do....especially a very best friend??? If they sense you troubled, or hurt, or worried, or concerned, or, or, or...whatever the problem might be...they would take you by the hand and you would immediately feel a sense of peace...that someone cares...that just maybe everything is going to be okay.
Well, that's exactly what God will do....
He's gonna hold you by your right hand...
and He's not gonna turn loose!!!
"Who am I"?
I'm a child of God!!!
And, there's absolutely nothing better to be in the whole wide world!!!

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!

  1. Good Marvelous Monday Deb,
I love your post this morning! It brought me to "pondering" lol
I thought about your questions, Who Am I? .. I was once mom and dad's oldest daughter, then I was his wife, their mommy, now I am their Nana....and I am still all that except the wife part we divorced...but who am I? The life as we know it in American for me has given me my title of who I am...but all those things I found in one sense are temporal things of this life....things that change, things that had differnt levels of importance, things that you experienced great delight and then great sorrow....as the birth of my oldest son, Craig...his birth the greatest joy of my heart ... his death...the greatest pain of my heart ....the joys and sorrows of life keep one tossed to and fro....I am finding that their is but one that has the scales balanced. Who AM I this morning....a mere vessel empty of choice for I was given one choice....and that choice I gave back to the Father....I choose to have no choice that HIS CHOICE for my life can be manifested before HIM and mankind as HE desires to manfiest himself through me. That is my choice...that is Who I am ...
Does it make me great, no but it does humble me before Him, it does bring great joy to see Him work through this willing vessel.....maybe I got a bit side tracked per your message this morning but this is the thoughts your post brought for in me.
A reminder that I am nothing, I know nothing, I have nothing, I can do nothing APART from HIM...all else is sinking sand ...
God Bless you Deb .... thanks for the morning nudge....

  2. Wonderful post. I know that I am a child of God and I do know He holds my hands and I definately know He has a full bottle of tears from me and the reasons. I know also that I am not alone but there are times I do feel alone, especially the last 3 weeks and my daughter feels that way too and we tell each other I'm here for you but again the feelings inside are still there. It's good to hear and read verses that have been repeated, we can always find comfort in Scripture and to hear them over and over again, never gets tiring. Love ya!!!!!!
