Nana, Nana Boo Boo

I guess the title should actually read....
"Nana made a boo-boo"!!
or, as the current saying is....
"my bad"!!

It's my little task at church....and when I say "little", I actually mean "simple" task....to send out a call every Saturday morning to the nursery and children's church workers reminding them that they are on the schedule to serve in the Sunday morning service.  Now...this SHOULD be just a simple little thing to take care of....all I have to do is go into the system on-line and click on the subgroup for those workers....uncheck the ones who served last week...and check those who are on the current schedule....then, set up the call to go out to that particular group....and VOILA....it gets sent out.
Simple, right?
Yeah....right.
Simple for those who have their head on straight...who are thinking about what they're doing....and are able to take a few minutes to  concentrate on the task at hand.  Not so simple for somebody whose head is in a fog....currently on their third round of antibiotics....and can barely breathe they're so stopped up.
So...I did my duty this past Saturday morning...made my call...and thought "that's that about that".  Until....
....the calls started coming in from people who weren't on the schedule....and those who had been asked off the schedule....and then....it dawned on me...the call didn't go to the select group of about 11 people....it went out....to....
....THE ENTIRE CHURCH!!!!

Oh, me...oh, my...I panicked....I had to fix my error...which meant cancelling the original call...sending out a call begging for mercy and forgiveness....and then sending the call to only those who should have received it in the first place.

Why am I telling you this?
Why am I once again letting you know the err of my ways?
Because....
....even though this was a simple mistake....
....and LOTS....
I'm tellin' you....
....LOTS....
of people found out about it...and knew I'd goofed up big time....it wasn't a life, or death mistake....
....nothing earth shattering
(except to me and the two ladies over the Nursery and Children's Church Program...who I owe...
...BIG TIME!!!).
It wasn't the end of the world....nothing for me to hang my head in shame over (except, I pretty much did for the rest of the day).  But...it made me stop and think....if even the simple little errors that we make are found out by others....at least, most of the time....what about our big flub-ups?
What about those things that we do that are immoral....or, unethical?
What about SINS?
Even though what I did wasn't a "sin"....just a mistake....it really caused me stop and think...and realize....that we have to always be on guard...on our toes...on our "best behavior"...because somebody's watching...somebody's taking notice....
....SOMEBODY....
....is gonna find out!!!

Numbers 32:23 (NLT)
But if you fail to keep your word, then you will have sinned against the Lord, and you may be sure that your sin will find you out.

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!
