Taken for granted!!!

Do you ever feel like you're being taken for granted?
I think we all feel like that from time to time....but reading the following little story....it gave me a whole new perspective on being "taken for granted".

This is another precious story from http://www.timsinspiration.com/.

Something Special For My Granny

For some time I've had a church member provide me with a rose boutonnière to pin on the lapel of my suit every Sunday. Because I always got a flower on Sunday morning, I really did not think much of it. It was a nice gesture that became routine. One Sunday, however, what I considered ordinary became very special.

As I was leaving the Sunday service a young man approached and said, "Sir, what are you going to do with your flower?" At first I did not know what he was talking about, but then I understood. I said, "Do you mean this?" as I pointed to the rose pinned to my coat.

He said, "Yes sir. I would like it if you are just going to throw it away." The little boy said, "Sir, I'm going to give it to my granny. My mother and father got divorced last year. I was living with my mother, but I could not stay, so she sent me to live with my grandmother. She has been so good to me that I want to give that pretty flower to her for loving me."

When the little boy finished I could hardly speak. My eyes filled with tears and I knew I had been touched in the depths of my soul. I reached up and unpinned my flower. With the flower in my hand, I looked at the boy and said, "Son, that is the nicest thing I have ever heard, but you can't have this flower because it's not enough. If you'll look in front of the pulpit, you'll see a big bouquet of flowers. Different families buy them for the church each week. Please take those flowers to your granny because she deserves the very best."

If I hadn't been touched enough already, he made one last statement and I will always cherish it. He said, "What a wonderful day! I asked for one flower but got a beautiful bouquet."

Here is the web definition of  "taken for granted":

If you take something for granted, you don't worry or think about it because you assume you will always have it. If you take someone for granted, you don't show your appreciation to them.

Do you feel like you've been....or are currently being....taken for granted....or, taken advantage of?
Or...will you admit that you are taking somebody for granted?

My hand will have to be the first to go up....especially for taking others for granted....and a big ESPECIALLY for my husband.
I just always assume that he doesn't care to do whatever I have on the "honey do" list.  I know that if I need something from the store that he's more than willing to run by there on his way home from work....even though he's tired and would prefer to just head on home.

But...I realize...that I take God for granted, too!
I know that God's not going anywhere....that He's gonna always be there for me.
Yet....I find it necessary to gripe and complain about those things that don't go right...."right" according to my wants and needs.  I'm coming to realize, though...that those times that things don't work out like I had hoped....only serve to strengthen my faith!!!

Thank you, Lord....for loving me....and taking such good care of me....and NEVER leaving my side...and I'm sorry that I take You for granted!!!

Luke 10:41-42 (NLT)
But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details!  There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”

In His Most Precious Love...and with mine!!!
