Weighty Wednesday

Every now and then on Wednesday's....unless directed otherwise....we'll share something about our weight loss journey that so many of us are on together.  Today....I want to tell you all about something that I first heard about last week listening to K-Love Radio while heading to an appointment.  I only caught a bit of the topic, so I came home and Googled it.
The "it" I'm talking about is "FITatudes".
The 9 FITatudes are based on The Beatitudes....the directives that begin Jesus' Sermon on the Mount in Matthew Chapter 5.
The program was written by Diana Patton and Tonja Ward....and  here are some statements they make:

"We are making the case that with God's help you can eat to live, live to worship and get full on the Word".
"As women of faith, we believe that no one has the power to obtain the essential ingredients of the 9 FITatudes on their own.  We believe that we can do it only through Christ, who gives us strength (Philippians 4:13)  We also recognize the importance of relationships and working together to spur one another on (Hebrews 10:24) So...the "FIT" in FITatudes is an acronym for Feeling Inspired Together."

Here are the 9 FITatudes.....
(note...those aren't actual scripture quotes....just the scriptures they base their statements on!!!)

(1)  ABSOLUTE TRUST IN GOD
Go Big, or Go Home!
Happy are those whose absolute trust is in the Lord....for they shall not be disappointed.
 Proverbs 3:5

(2) HUMILITY AND PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY
Keeping your ego in check....
Happy are those who take humble responsibility while giving God all the glory for the undeserved gifts He bestows...for they shall experience God's glory.
Philippians 2:3-9 and Matthew 7:3-5

(3) FORGIVENESS
Be transformed mentally
Happy are those who release themselves from holding a grudge or passing judgment for someone else's sin and learns to forgive...for they shall be forgiven and experience earthly freedom and everlasting life.
Matthew 6:14

(4) POSITIVE THINKING
Your body achieves what your mind conceives.
Happy are those who free their minds of useless "chatter" and immediately replace negative thoughts with positive ones...for they shall be able to focus on life's essentials.
Philippians 4:8

(5) DEVOTION TO OTHERS
Birds of a feather MUST flock together.
Happy are those who encourage others and who willingly join their family and friends in faithful fellowship, inspiring and motivating one another to lead a high performing life....for they shall likewise be encourage.
Hebrews 10:24-25

(6) A LIFE BUDGET WITH GRATITUDE
Healthy mustn't be expensive or time consuming.
Happy are those who are grateful and content with what they have wisely budget their resources...for by observing boundaries in an "anything goes" world, they shall not squander their resources or overindulge, thus avoiding problems in the future.
I Corinthians 10:23

(7)  HEALTHY FOODS AND PROPER HYDRATION
Heavenly  bodies begin with healthy foods.
Happy are those who drink sufficient water and eat fresh fruits and vegetables, and whole foods....for they shall not often be constipated, and they shall be healthier, better nourished, and at less risk for lifestyle diseases than those who mock them.
Genesis 1:11-12

***WARNING***
If you don't fully grasp FITatudes 1-6, we suggest you skip this FITatude and continue to 8-9 and revisit at a later time.  Use this FIT-atude only as a Biblically influenced guide - NOT another set of diet rules.
The key to healthy living is a Christ-focused heart - not a set of food rules.

 (8) RESPECT FOR ONE'S BODY
R-E-S-P-E-C-T your B-O-D-Y.
Happy are those who - recognizing their body is a gift from God - get it moving every day and obtain proper rest...for their muscles and joints will be supple and adaptable and they will experience bountiful energy.
Genesis 2:2-3 and Timothy 4:8a

(9) PERSEVERANCE
Keep on keepin' on.
Happy are the faithful and diligent....for they shall obtain results.
Hebrews 12:1-3

(be sure and turn off my PlayList before viewing)

Please know...that I'm not promoting this program.
But....
....I do know that asking for God's help in  EVERYTHING....
....is the only way we'll accomplish ANYTHING!!!

Wednesday Blessings to each of you!!!

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!

  3. That is great! I am SO down and SO depressed about my weight. I can't remember if I told you my story about it or not, but it just makes me so sad to think about it - very, very sad, very depressed and, honestly, quite miserable because I can't do a whole lot about it right now because of my illness. *sigh* In case I haven't told you about it, I lost 100 POUNDS almost 16 years ago. I lost it the right way; I reduced portions and I exercised. I had no surgeries, no procedures, just good old-fashioned exercise and eating right. (I'm not knocking anyone who has to have the surgery, I'm just saying that I didn't.) When I finally got it off, I kept it off for 13 years!! I did not gain hardly any of it back until I became so sick, but then it started to creep back on when I became so immobile and started all the medications they have me on. Then, I very quickly started gaining weight once I became completely bedridden. Oh, did I mention that I'm ANGRY, too? Sometimes, I am just SO angry that I worked SO hard for SO long and finally made it to my goal weight. I stayed there, only to have almost every single pound come back. It just all seems so unfair but I know the Lord has a plan! He has plans not to harm me but wants to give me hope and a future. Who can argue with that? I just have to keep my eyes and heart set on His promises.

    Thanks so much for sharing!
