Too many irons in the fire!!!

When I was growing up and my Mom would get too many projects going at one time....Daddy would tell her that she had "too many irons in the fire".  As I've gotten old older myself....I find that happens to me quite a bit, too.  Of course, we like to refer to it these days as "multi-tasking"....and I think that most of us girls do that....because a lot of times it's necessary....especially those of you with little ones!!!

As I was reading the story in the Bible recently about Mary and Martha....I was reminded of what my Daddy used to tell Mom.  I think that Martha had "too many irons in the fire", too....and it caused her to loose sight of what was really important.  Remember, she even asked Jesus to tell Mary to help her.  Can't you just picture Jesus placing His loving arm around Martha's shoulders as He said these words to her,

“My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:41-42

Have you ever felt that way, too?
You know....get too many projects going....or, have way too much on your plate to handle and get overwhelmed....and you just feel like nobody cares and you're all alone and trying to do everything....fix everything....and there's nobody to help?!?!?
Yeah....me, too!!!
But....when that happens....I HOPE that I can remember the words that Jesus spoke to His friend, Martha....and realize that all those things will pass away....but my knowledge of Jesus....and the time that I spend in prayer and in His Word and doing things that will bring Him glory....that's really what matters!!!

And....all those other things that I start and can't seem to finish....well....
....."they ain't goin' nowhere"!!!
They'll still be there after I do the things that I should be concerned about....those things that are for HIS glory!!!

Thursday blessings to each of you!!!

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!

  3. I think this happens to us all. My husband and I have an agreement that whenever the other gets a little bit over their head, to remind each other what really is important.
