Five on Friday!

I haven't done a "fragment" post in a while....and since the last week has been just full of "stuff"....well, let's talk....okay?!?!?

1.  Speaking of talking.....I've had laryngitis!
I asked Pappy if that was his CHRIST-mas wish!!!
He only laughed....never really answered me!!
Imagine that!!!
He called and made me a doctor's appointment....I couldn't even do that!!!  For two days I could only whisper....do you know how fast that wears a person out?!?!?  I was given an inhaler....and antibiotics....and I'm almost back to normal....okay I'll never be "normal"....so let's just say I can talk now!!!

2.  We've experienced two deaths in the past week.  Our friend,
Mr. Lloyd, passed away on CHRIST-mas Eve....and my sweet cousin, Ms. Amy, passed away the day after CHRIST-mas.  So....it's been a week of going to funerals, funeral homes, and graveside services.  These deaths have really made me stop and think....because Mr. Lloyd was 7 months younger than me....and Ms. Amy was 5 years younger.
This needs to serve as a reminder than none of us are promised tomorrow....we need to be the best wife/mother/daughter/friend....but, especially CHRIST-ian....that we can be!!!

3.  On a happier note.....
I had a wonderful  CHRIST-mas!!!
The boys were joys!!!
Here are a couple of pics of them opening gifts....
Look how big Big Brother is getting!!!
:'(
(pay no attention to the baby bottle on the chest...
that's a whole 'nuther story...;)

Little Bit wanted Pappy's help in opening his gifts.

Have I ever told you all how much I adore these boys?!?!?
;)

4.  I won a Katie Wyper silhouette At The Well.
Ms. Katie....was one of the nicest people I've ever....not even met!!!  Even though this was a free gift.....she asked lots of questions and even sent me drafts to preview before she sent the finished product to me.  And....on top of that....not only did she send what I had won....because she knew I was giving it to Jess....she included one for me, too!!!
Here are the silhouettes of our boys....both at age 3.
Didn't she do an amazing job?!?!?

It looks just like our little rascals....even down to their spiky hair!!!
Thank you sooooo much, Ms. Katie!!!
You were a blessing to work with!!!

5.  FINALLY!!!
I bet that's what you all are thinking, too!!!
If you've made it this far....I promise it will be worth your while!!  This is an easy-peasy recipe....and they are DELICIOUS!!!  These are the ones I made for our CHRIST-mas get-together with "my side" of the family last night....which got post-poned from Sunday because of the snow!!
They were a hit!!!

Mini Pecan Tarts

3 oz cream cheese
(I just half an 8 ounce bar)
1/2 C soft butter
1 C flour
Mix together and shape into 24 small balls...chill.

Filling
1 egg
3/4 C brown sugar
1 T butter
Salt
2/3 C chopped pecans
Vanilla flavoring

(the recipe doesn't say how much....
....so I just pour some in!!!)

Place small balls in mini muffin pans. Press in middle of ball to make mini crust. Pour filling in each cup and bake 25 minutes at 325 degrees.

What makes these things soooo good....is the cream cheese in the crust....YUMMY!!!

HOPE each of you have a blessed New Year's Eve!!!

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!

  1. Hope your voice returns in time to greet 2011! Your pictures are sweet - the pleasure and joy of Christmas shines through them.

What can I say about that recipe except that it's a good thing there's little time left in 2010. And tomorrow I begin (again) a deliberate effort to minimize desserts and other sweets in my daily experience :) Your tarts look absolutely DELICIOUS! I'll copy the recipe and put it under my recipe tab "just in case"!

  2. What a fun read!

The tarts I used to make and I recently bought a new mini muffin pan, so tarts will be on my agenda soon. I love pecan pie and the tarts are a quick grab and eat!

    Happy New Year!

Don't know if you saw my message under The Things We Find Inside's facebook post, but Jeremiah 29:11 is one of my favorite verses! I use it in my cards all the time and it was my theme for my New Year's Blessing card last year.

  8. The boys are darling! I can imagine all of the fun you had. I'm glad you are feeling better. Sorry about your friends. Losing people we love certainly brings things into focus.
