Friday Food Fun

I've wanted to share this recipe with y'all for quite some time....and I thought I had it in my old recipe book, but couldn't find it....so I called my Mom and she read it off to me over the phone.  She's made these at CHRIST-mas for about as long as I can remember....and they are absolutely the best things you've ever tasted....I'm serious!!!  They just melt in your mouth!!
All of our family loves 'em!!!
It's a good thing she only makes them once a year, though....'cause they are chock full of calories!!!

I searched the Internet for the recipe....and the closest I came was one for Nanaimo Bars
Here's a pic of them....and they look almost exactly like the ones my Mom makes....YUMMY!!!

Jane's Add-Two Bars

1/2 C margarine
1/4 C sugar
1/3 C cocoa
Combine the above and cook over low heat until blended and add....
1 egg slightly beaten
1 tsp vanilla
Blend together and add....
1 3.5 ounce can flaked coconut
2 C vanilla wafer crumbs
(I would use graham cracker crumbs)

Press all the above into a 9x9x2 pan.
Let stand at least 15 minutes

Combine and cream together....
3 T milk
1 small box of vanilla pudding mix
(I would use FF...simply because it would make me feel better about eating these things)

Spread this mixture over the first layer and let this stand at least another 15 minutes, or until firm.

Melt the following together and pour over the top of the second layer....
1 4-ounce bar of chocolate
(Mom uses chocolate chips and said you could uses more than the 4 ounces of them, depending on how thick you want the top layer to be....I like it thin, believe it, or not!!!)
1 TBS margarine

WARNING....
....these things are addictive!!!
;)

If any of you are planning on attending a cookie exchange this CHRIST-mas....you might want to check out Betty Crocker for some great looking treats!!!

HOPE each of you have a great weekend!

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!

I'm hooking up with....

  1. Oh my goodness. These look positively sinful. You know what I mean? I'll have to give this to my pastry chef daughter and have her make some. You've always got the best looking recipes.
