Weekly Recap #49 - (Part 3) - Colossians

The book of Colossians focuses on the person and the work of JESUS CHRIST.  It was yet another letter that Paul wrote from prison.

CHRIST - the visible image of the invisible God.

Colossians 2:8
Don't let anyone  capture you with empty philosophies and high sounding nonsense that comes from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world rather than from CHRIST.

CHRIST performs a spiritual "circumcision" on us when we accept Him....by cutting away our sinful nature.  We are buried with Him when we are baptized...being raised to a new life.

As members of the body of CHRIST, we are called to live in peace....and to always be thankful.

Colossians 3:16c....sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to GOD with thankful hearts.

Colossians 3:18 thru 4:1
These verses are known as a "household code".  They are instructions that are given to wives, husbands, children, fathers, slaves, and masters.

Wives - submit to husbands
Husbands - love your wife and never treat her harshly
Children - always obey your parents, for this pleases the LORD
Fathers - don't aggravate your children
Slaves - obey your earthly masters
Masters - be just and fair to your slaves....remember that you also have a MASTER in heaven
Colossians 4:2
Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.

I promise it wasn't intentional....but I'm loving every verse that I'm ending with so far!!!

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!
