Exercise

I don't really like to exercise.
Do you?
I like how I feel after I've exercised....and I do really like to walk outside....but it's been so cold here that I've not done much of that in the past couple of months.   Since I'm now the proud owner of an awesome treadmill....well, I try to utilize it....but not as much as I should!!!
:(
I came across this verse of scripture recently....and although I've read it many times before....well, it kinda spoke....okay, shouted.....at me!!!

I Timothy 4:8 (KJV)
For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

Here's the NLT......
“Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.”

Do these verses give us an excuse not to exercise?
NOPE....sorry!!!

But....
....the exercise that I feel it's telling us is really important "for godliness"....is spending time in prayer....reading scripture....attending church....being around other Christians.....whatever it takes to help us "exercise" our faith!!

And....as good as physical exercise is for our hearts....well....spiritual exercise is even better!!!

Psalm 119:32 (NKJV)
I will run the course of Your commandments,
For You shall enlarge my heart.

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!

  2. I love that scripture..and the 'idea' of exercise. I keep meaning to do it..hmm... somehow I always get distracted. I wonder why?!!

Love your post today, Deb. BTW, I've been mentally working on a blog award post..and you've been on my mind. It's the Versatile Blogger Award. I do think you fall squarely in the middle of that description. It's not easy to assign everyone with that, but you are definitely one of those people.

    Have a lovely day, Deb.

  6. This is so encouraging and as many times as i've read those scriptures i've never stopped to think of them in those terms. I decided a while back for things that I don't enjoy doing but have to be done I would take a different mind set and according to scripture I would them w/ joy! Stopping by from yesterdays hop..i'm late everywhere I go so no exception to blog hopping. Lol. Enjoyed visiting your blog! Join me when you get the chance at undeserving grace
