Chats on the Farmhouse Porch!!!

I don't always get a chance to join in on the porch at Ms. Patrice's over at Everyday Ruralty.
To be perfectly honest....sometimes I totally forget!!!
But, today, I'm a bit tired from working outside.....
although, I LOVE being outdoors....
....so I thought I would sit down and chat awhile.
This week, we're indoors 'cause it's kinda chilly over at Ms. Patrice's!!!

Tell me a fond memory of an elderly person?
Oh, this one is so easy to answer.
My Mamaw.
She passed away last May 6th, the day before Mother's Day....at the age of 99.  I was the oldest of all the GRANDchildren and was more like her daughter, than GRANDdaughter.  She was my absolute hero....the best cook in the whole wide world.  One of my fondest memories was as an adult.  For several years we would go pick her up for church before she got too feeble to attend.  Every single SONday, she would get in the car with something sweet....homemade.  Oh, I loved her so very much and just told hubby yesterday how much I miss her!!!

What's your favorite flavor of jam or jelly?
Another easy answer....STRAWBERRY!!!
Brings back another fond memory....of my Mom....she used to make the absolute best strawberry preserves when I was growing up!!!

What goes through your mind when you drive by one of those whopping, huge houses that look like something in a magazine?
LOL.....probably not the answer you would expect....but I always think how difficult it would be to have to keep all that big old house clean!!!  Of course, if I could afford the house, I'm sure I could hire a housekeeper!!!

What's your favorite way to relax?
This might sound totally crazy....but I relax by crocheting.
I jokingly say it's my therapy....but, it's really no joke!!!

What's your favorite kind of pasta?
I adore all kinds of pasta, but don't usually eat it very often for two reasons....#1, hubby doesn't like it at all....and #2, I don't need all the carbs.  I don't have a favorite, but I do like the whole wheat pasta....YUMMY!!!

Thanks so much, Ms. Patrice, for letting me sit and rest a while!!!

Blessings,

Deb

A woman by the name of Gladys I used to work with her and many people used to call her grandma. She did remind me of a grandmother. I couldn't call her that. I lost my grandma at a very young age. I barely remember her but I couldn't call Gladys that if I hardly called my own grandma. Gladys made me wish I had a chance to grow up with my granny. But she was the closest I had.

  2. Mamaw sounds wonderful. 99 is a good long life- what a blessing! Yes- strawberry!I know crafts can be like therapy. That may be why so many people do them. It's more stressful if you have to make an income from them. Have a great week!
