Hold My Tongue!!!

Have you ever experienced something you said being repeated....
....and maybe not exactly as what you originally said?

Did it hurt your feelings....
....make you sad.....
....or, did you just plain old get mad?!?!

This happened to me.....but the other person....or, persons.....weren't completely at fault.
NOPE....I had to take much of the blame myself!!!

Here are a few things I learned.....

*  Don't share personal things about myself with others
....unless they are a trusted friend

* Don't assume that a mere acquaintance can keep a confidence

* Don't stop praying for discernment....
.....not only about others, but myself, too

* Don't hold a grudge when I was involved in the problem

* And, most importantly.....

DON'T GOSSIP!!!!

I also came to realize that this should be my prayer each and every morning.....

Lord....please keep Your arm around my shoulder
and Your hand over my mouth!!!

Psalm 39:1a
I said to myself,
"I will watch what I do and not sin in what I say."
Some lessons are much more difficult to learn than others....
....at least for me!!!

Hope you have a great Monday, Sweet Reader!!!

In HIS Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!

  1. Hi Deb,

I echo what you say and my blog today relates somewhat too, they are not my words, but did speak to me this morning.

  2. Yep! And some lessons have to be learned incrementally, it seems....

Look at Ecclesiastes 10:20. (We discussed this one in our small group last night and decided it meant don't even speak your negative thoughts when you think you're alone! A "little birdie" might carry what you speak somewhere you don't want it to go!)

  7. One of my deepest hurts in this area came from those closest to me. I guess it takes a lot of trial and error to figure some people out and who can be trusted.

  8. Words are wonderful, but they can cause a lot of problems when not properly used. I think this has happened to a lot of us. Love your prayer.
