It's Derby Day!!!

In case you didn't already know....I the Kentucky Derby.  I really don't know why....I'm not a gambler, so I don't bet on a certain horse.  I do enjoy looking at all the cute hats the ladies wear.  Maybe it's simply because it's one of the few sports that doesn't last for hours and hours.  It's over with in just a matter of minutes....and it involves animals!!!  You see, I'm a pretty simple minded gal!!!  And, don't they say that your attention span is  about as long as your age....which means mine is only about an hour....and that's actually pushing it to give me that much credit!!!

The Derby also brings to mind other kinds of races....like how sometimes my mind races and I can't sleep....how I often run from here to there racing around like a chicken with it's head cut off trying to get everything on my "to do" list accomplished!!!

But, the most important race of all is this "race of life" that we're living each and every day.

Hebrews 12:1
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith,  let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up.  And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

I Corinthians 9:24
Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs,
but only one person gets the prize?
So run to win!

Dear Heavenly Father, please help me not to forget that just like that huge crowd in the stands watching those horses run around the track....and the millions watching on TV....there are people keeping an eye on me and my walk with You.  They are seeing how I handle the obstacles that get in my path.  My I run this race that is set before me in a way that will bring only honor and glory to Your precious and holy name!!!

In HIS Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!

  2. Great post. Like the way you think about the horse race. My kind of game-short.
