Keeping a commitment!!!

Something happened to me this past Monday that I feel led to share with y'all.  A few weeks ago, I had told somebody that if she needed me to, I would go with her to an appointment.  Then, someone else asked me if I would do something to help them out that same day....and I told them "yes", forgetting about the previous conversation.   Well....the first lady called me and when I explained the situation, she told me it was perfectly okay....but I knew in my heart it wasn't.  A short while later, Pappy and I sat down to read our scripture for the day and it was my turn to pray.  I asked God to speak to me thru His word about what had happened and let me know what I should do.

Here's the scripture that was part of our reading....

Ecclesiastes 5:4b-5 (HCSB)
Fulfill what you vow.
Better that you do not vow than that you vow and not fulfill it.

Definition of vow:
A solemn promise

As soon as I read those words, I knew exactly what I had to do.
Even though I had made a commitment to two different people, Pappy was part of the second one and he handled it while I went with my friend to her appointment.

Ain't God good?
Oh, yes He is!!!

From now on....I shall write down EVERYTHING on my calendar!!!

;-)

Happy Thursday, Sweet Readers!!!

In HIS Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!

  1. Right along those lines, my husband is preparing a sermon this Sunday on "let your yes be yes" from the Sermon on the Mount. ]

I, too, have been more intentional about writing things down...and then CHECKING my calendar before I agree to another commitment. (I've also been double-booking myself using the calendar feature on my cell phone.)

  2. Good for you. Glad everything was able to be worked out. I know what you mean about writing every thing down.

  3. Hi Deb,

I am always wary of committing myself to something, if I am not sure I will be able to fulfil that commitment, but it does happen, because life happens and the unexpected turns up. Hope your mum is okay, haven't really kept up with blog hopping and commenting this week as it has been very busy.

Have a good weekend. God Bless - Nita
