Strangely Dim!!!

Pappy and I were reading our daily Bible reading together last night and when I read these verses of scripture......

Philippians 3:7-11
I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done.
Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.
For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him.
I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law;
rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ.
For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith.
I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead.
I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death,  so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!

.....I was reminded of this song.....

Turn your eyes upon Jesus.
Look full in His wonderful face.
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace!!!

In HIS Most Precious Lve....and with mine, too!!!

Blessings,
Deb

  1. Hi Deb,

Thank you for this, it is one of my favourites.

But I have to confess I struggle somewhat with the message it contains.

However much I try to turn my eyes on Jesus and His Return and Eternity, earthly things still play very much on my mind.

It reminds me of a question very much on my mind this morning. Is it wrong to seek and want human encouragement, is it wrong to give it to others. I have always felt one of the ways God encourages is through other Christians and this happened for me on Sunday after leading prayers to a large congregation in church on Sunday. It did uplift me when people told me they were beautiful prayers. Afterwards I wondered was I wrong to want and appreciate that encouragement and also to reflect on the converse side of humans discouraging each other, which is also featuring somewhat in my life at the moment. Is it wrong that our brothers and sisters in Christ that our families, can lift us up and bring us down. Well best close here, before I write a blog, maybe I will copy it as a blog actually.

    God Bless - Nita.

  3. Hello Mate, yes Christmas time has become much a time of worthlessness. All the decorations and glamor are nice in a way, but when they interfere, and often they do, with the true meaning, they are nothing. We keep a low key at Christmas. I have an old tree and old ornaments but I wouldn't even bother to put it up if it weren't for my granddaughter. They don't have a tree so she like to put up ours. Her mother, my daughter Daniella had a son who die on Christmas Day, so now she says it is a Pagan Festival and she won't acknowledge it. Sad... I tell her it may have begun that way but now it is a day when the whole world, even non Christians know, that a Saviour was born..
Philippians 3:7-11 is very special.. I loved reading it!! Much love sent today. xx
