I Give Up!!!

Have you ever felt just like giving up.....
.....throwing in the towel.....
.....calling it quits?!?!

I recently read some scripture and saw it in an entirely different light.  Remember the story about Jesus' disciples who had fished all night and caught nothing?  They gave up, right?  Well, what happened when Jesus came on the scene and they followed His direction?

Here....let John (my favorite of the four gospels) tell us the story.....

John 21:1-6
Later, Jesus appeared again to the disciples beside the Sea of Galilee.
This is how it happened.
Several of the disciples were there—Simon Peter, Thomas (nicknamed the Twin),
 Nathanael from Cana in Galilee,
the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples.
Simon Peter said, “I’m going fishing.”
“We’ll come, too,” they all said.
So they went out in the boat, but they caught nothing all night.
At dawn Jesus was standing on the beach, but the disciples couldn’t see who he was.
He called out,
“Fellows, have you caught any fish?”
“No,” they replied.
  Then he said,
“Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you’ll get some!”
So they did, and they couldn’t haul in the net because there were so many fish in it.

Often when we feel we've reached the "end of our rope".....
.....well, that's when God shows up and shows off and we receive a blessing so big that we can't "haul in the net"!!!
It's not that He wasn't there all along.
I think sometimes He just waits for us to TOTALLY give it all to HIM and not try to "fix it" ourselves....
....and He wants it to be something that is so big and so powerful that HE has to get all the glory!!!

In HIS Most Precious Lve....and with mine, too!!!

Blessings,
Deb

  4. I don't know why we often wait till we just give up to trust Him with our problems, but I know it's our natural instinct to try to do things on our own. I'm so glad God has so much patience with me! He is always there, waiting to rescue me!
