Entertaining Angels!!!

I took Mom to the doctor yesterday and dropped her off at the door while I parked the car.  It was windy here in this neck of the woods and I was trying to brace myself from the wind (not that I in any way think I would get blown away....too much junk in the trunk for that to happen)....but I noticed a gentleman walking ahead of me on crutches and he had only one leg.  The pants leg of his missing leg was pinned up.  I'm not sure why, but I started talking to him as we crossed the road headed to the hospital....just about the weather....but I felt such a connection with this gentleman.  I really tried to look him in the eyes as we talked....but I did notice others ignoring him, or glancing at him and looking away.  As we entered the hospital, there was an automatic door and I waited a bit so he could catch up with me because I wanted to hold open the inside door, where my Mom was waiting on me.  I held the door open for them both and this man said something to me that just really touched my heart.  He thanked me....but then he said that most people wouldn't hold the door open for him.  Please know that this post isn't because I did something so simple as to hold a door open for somebody....absolutely not.  It made me wonder how many times in my life did I possibly do the very same thing....just glance at the person who had an injury, or a disability, or skin color different than mine and just walk away pretending not to notice.
Made me sad!
But, more than that....I knew that it made God sad, too!

I told the gentleman that I might need somebody to help me someday!!!
And, if....or, when that happens.....
....I hope God sends somebody who notices!!!

Hebrews 13:2
Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers,
for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!

In HIS Most Precious Lve....and with mine, too!!!

Blessings,
Deb

  1. What a sweet reminder that we should always help others in the little things just not the big. Great post.

  3. Beautiful words this morning Deb, something to think about and to do 'something' about. As servants of Christ we should ALWAYS be about His business, loving one another, helping one another and praying for one another. I know it's hard to get this in our worldly minds, but we are all family. Yep, we are!

  5. Thanks for the reminder! Sometimes we get so caught up in what we are doing and miss an opportunity to help someone else.

  6. This really made me think Deb! I wonder how many times I have ignored the little voice in my heart encouraging me to talk to someone or to ask someone if there is something I can pray for them. *sigh*

As the Lord told us: "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' ~ Matthew 25:40

  8. Thanks for sharing. I always think of this verse when I have interesting or strange encounters with people. We never know. They could be angels.
