R.A.C.K.

Our daughter has been teaching our Grand's all about being kind to others.
One of the things they're doing this summer is choosing different people to do a R.A.C.K. for....
 random act of CHRISTian kindness.

Our oldest grandson, Sam, chose the lady at the dump.
That just made my heart so happy when Jess told me how he wanted to write a note thanking her for always being there when they take off their trash and that Jesus loves her....
along with a plate full of chocolate chip cookies!!!
The lady was so grateful....
and don't you know that probably nobody had ever shown her that kind of attention and love because of the job she does.....
and it was all because of the love of a precious little seven year old boy!!!
It sure made this Nannie's heart sing!!!

This past weekend, we helped a family member move their things from their home.  It was an unpleasant experience because it's all because of a divorce, but I was able to see kindness shown by some of those involved.  There were a couple of young teenage boys who helped.  Now, these boys probably hadn't seen the inside of a church building in quite some time....if ever.  Their attire wasn't exactly something I would have chosen for one of my grandsons....but they were clean and polite....and I tried to make it a point to be kind to them....asking their names and thanking them both for all their help....
sometimes that's all it takes to reach out to somebody....
a kind word....
a gentle pat on the arm....
showing they're noticed!!!

It takes so little time to just be kind to somebody.....
sometimes all the other person might need is a smile!!
I've noticed lately just how many people out in public aren't smiling.
But....if I smile at them....they nearly always smile back!!!

I saw something yesterday that reminded me of how important it is to be kind....
and how kindness brings.....

Hope!!!

  1. That is so sweet what your grandson did. That story just touched my heart. I love that sometimes little ones have more of a giving heart that we adults do. He is a inspiration.
