Hush, Little Baby.....

....don't say a word!!!

“We are masters of the unsaid words,
but slaves of those we let slip out..”
~~~Winston Churchill~~~
This is a hard post to write....
'cause I have to be honest and transparent.
“in times like the present,
men should utter nothing for which they would not willingly be responsible through time and eternity.”
~~~Abraham Lincoln~~~

God's been doing a work in my heart about my mouth.
He's calling me to be more silent in situations where I think my opinion really matters.....
when in fact it probably doesn't amount to a hill of beans!!!

“Speak when you are angry and you will make the best speech you will ever regret.”
~~~Ambrose Bierce~~~
I've always been pretty outspoken and opinionated.
That's not always a bad thing because often I'm right there on the front lines defending the 'underdog'.  I try to stand up for what is right....of course, sometimes that's my personal opinion of what is right and wrong.
“The right word may be effective,
but no word was ever as effective as a rightly timed pause.”
~~~Mark Twain~~~

I truly want God to break my heart for what breaks His.....
not just what might not look right to me.

“Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place,
but far more difficult still,
to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.”
~~~Benjamin Franklin~~~
James 1:19
Know this, my beloved brothers
(and sisters):
let every person be quick to hear,
slow to speak,
slow to anger.
1 Peter 3:3-4
Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles,
expensive jewelry,
or beautiful clothes.
You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within,
the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit,
which is so precious to God.
In HIS Most Precious Lve....and with mine, too!!!
Blessings,
Deb
  1. I know I needed these reminders, too. So many times, after the fact, I think about all the things I probably shouldn't have said. :((
  2. Deb, once again, we are so much alike. I have always struggled to control my mouth and pushy opinions. Yep, I said pushy, because I always 'know' my opinion is right! Well, at least we recognize our issue and we are trying to overcome this negative trait. God is so good, He will get us through. Joyce Meyer has a book, 'Me and My Big Mouth,' I've been wanting to read it and keep putting it off. hmmmmm....maybe because I know I will be convicted. ))smiles))
Kind words are like honey—
sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.
