Wednesday's Word - Gluttony

I Corinthians 6:19-20
Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit,
who lives in you and was given to you by God?
You do not belong to yourself,
for God bought you with a high price.
So you must honor God with your body.

Today's word is strictly for me.....
something I've struggled with most of my life,
which is turning to food when my appetite should be for more and more of God!!!

This image really spoke to my heart because to me it represents whatever our sin is.....it has already been nailed to the cross and covered by Jesus' shed blood!!!

Now shouldn't that make me really think about all the excess amounts of food I'm putting into my mouth?!?!?

Philippians 3:19
They are headed for destruction.
Their god is their appetite,
they brag about shameful things,
and they think only about this life here on earth.

Proverbs 23:2
If you are a big eater,
    put a knife to your throat;

Breathing in Jesus,

Deb

  1. Deb, I was reading this just as I was finishing up a muffin. The Lord has been dealing with me about this very thing...and you are the second person He has used within as many weeks to remind me through His Word that our bodies are His temple. And I love this..." turning to food when my appetite should be for more and more of God"...He has also used this post to confirm something else I've been praying about. I am so grateful for you, your friendship and the way the Lord uses you in my life, Deb.

Kind words are like honey—
sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.
