Thirty-Seven Years.....

That's how many years Pappy and I have been married!!!

Yes, today is our 37th wedding anniversary!

We've been thru a lot together.
We got married in 1977.
We rented a mobile home from April 22, 1977 until some time in July of that year.  Then, we rented a house from July, 1977 until September 15, 1979.
We began building our home in April of 1979 and on September 16th of that year we moved into our new home.....
which, was far from being finished,
but we wanted to be in before the birth of our child.
At that time, they didn't do ultrasounds during pregnancy unless there was a problem.....and I was healthy as a horse the entire time, not one day of morning sickness.....so we didn't know we were having a girl until she arrived.  Jessica Leigh was 2 weeks late from my "due date" and was born on September 29, 1979.

I lost my Dad in December of 1994 and less than 6 months later, Pappy lost his Dad, too, in May of 1995.  We became grandparents for the first time in July of 2006.  Our second grandson was born in December, 2007. Pappy's Mom passed away in June of 2009.  Our first granddaughter arrived in the US from Uganda in January of 2013.  And, our third grandson was born in July of 2013.

WOW.....
what an awesome 37 years we've lived as husband and wife!!!

We've gone thru several jobs and unemployment, and health problems and operations.  We're now at the age that we're looking forward to Pappy retiring in a few years so we can spend every single day together, good Lord willing.

I'm such a blessed woman to be married to a man who loves the Lord!!!
What a difference that makes in a marriage!!!

Would I change anything about the last 37 years?
Yes....
I would have realized many years before I did what it truly means to be a submissive wife!!
Being submissive is simply an act of respect.....
and in doing that, I truly want him to be the head of our household.
It takes a lot of worry and decision making off of me!!!

Things have changed thru the years....
especially, our looks and our bodies!!!
We both have a lot of "snow on the rooftop"!!
But some things have remained constant.....
our love for each other.....
and our love for the Lord!!!

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Two people are better off than one,
for they can help each other succeed.
 If one person falls,
the other can reach out and help.
But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.
Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm.
But how can one be warm alone?
A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated,
but two can stand back-to-back and conquer.
Three are even better,
for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.

Thank you, Lord, for the blessing of my husband.

Breathing in Jesus,

Deb

  4. Hi Deb! (Did I tell you I love your header before? If not, I do!) Happy Anniversary to you and your dear husband. What a wonderful and hard-won attitude you have toward marriage. So inspiring! As we travel through life with our spouses, we sure cover a lot of life, don't we? Sorrows of losing loved ones, births and marriages...so many blessings.

I hope you will have many more days and years of happiness with your spouse, and many more reasons to praise The Lord :)

  5. I wish you a very happy anniversary. True love - tested by all those events! Same with us, going on 43! I, too, realize the power of submission. God's word never fails.
