It's darkest before the DAWN.....

On one particularly gray, cold, dreary day at the end of November 2012, when my husband went once again on a job interview that I just figured would result in rejection, like so many had, I didn't think I could handle it any longer.  I felt that God had abandoned us.  Hubby had dropped me off to "window shop" and I can remember almost exactly where I was standing inside a Dollar Tree when I sent my best friend a text asking for prayer.  He was hired by the company for this particular job and it was an answer to our prayers that he get a job in a type of ministry.....
and that he just get A JOB!

I forwarded the devotional to my best friend and told her this was the part that stood out to me.....

Your breakthrough is waiting near your breaking point .
When it looks like you cannot go on and it becomes dark,
and you are ready to let God have it with both barrels,
you are so close.
Don’t give up!
It is always the darkest right before the dawn.

Sometime later, as we continued to e-mail back and forth, the title of the devotion just jumped out at me.....

"It's darkest before the DAWN".

You see.....
my best friend's name is DAWN!

Now, you can't tell me that is not totally an "it's not odd, it's God" thing.

I had reached one of the lowest, darkest times in my life when I sent that text to DAWN and she prayed for me and just a few days later, my husband got a job!

Ain't God good?
Oh, yes He is!

  1. Oh my dear friend...this is so precious. I've been there a few times myself...exactly where you stood, perhaps with different circumstances, but still right where you stood. Aren't we so glad we didn't give up completely? Amen and Amen!

  2. Hi Deb! Oh, how I wish you could see me smiling, sitting here in my recliner. LOVE it! You know what part of the devotional is so relevant? The part about wanting God to get it with 'both barrels'! (giggle!) I have been at that point with my own husband's unemployment too, and God has come through in the past. I am still hoping for a miracle this go-round, so maybe I could ask you and Dawn to pray for him? We'll see what the Lord has in mind...but stories like these really give me renewed hope.
Thank you!! And I love how we inspire each other :)
