{ Wednesday's Word - Contentment }

I recently read this verse of scripture on a blog.....

Philippians 4:11
 I don’t say this out of need, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.

I read it again during my devotional time this past Saturday morning.  It seems the word "content" just jumped out at me, so I did a bit of research on the word and found this verse......

Psalm 73:25
Whom have I in heaven but you?
    I desire you more than anything on earth.

As long as I have Jesus, shouldn't I find contentment in that alone?  Shouldn't more of Him, instead of anything this world can offer, be my ultimate desire?

I was also lead to these verses.....

I Timothy 6:6-8
Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth.
After all,
we brought nothing with us when we came into the world,
and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it.
So if we have enough food and clothing,
let us be content.

Now, after I finished my research and had decided that I'd use "contentment" as my word for today, I logged onto Instagram, and wouldn't you know it?  God surely thought He needed to send me yet one more reminder because a sweet friend from church had just posted this little sign......

Okay, Lord!
You now have my attention and I'm going to focus on trying to be content in my current circumstances (no promises, Lord, because You know how weak I can be).  I'll try not to fret and worry over the future and the "what if's", because most of the time they don't happen anyway.....more living in the here and now, instead of down the road.  Thank you, precious Lord, for loving this child of Yours enough to send me reminders that You hold the future (and me) in Your hands.  Thanks for telling me.....
"I've got this"!
Amen.....and Amen!!!

More and more I need to be......

breathing in Grace!!!

  2. LOVED this Deb! Oh we can surely become so discontent at times can't we? Especially when we begin to compare ourselves, talents, gifts, looks and etc. to others. (Well) that is the first thing that popped into my feeble mind! But I know that my true contentment can only come from Christ. Thanks for sharing your heart. Love you dearly~ Hugs and blessings, Cindy
