{ Circle of Love }

This week has been one of tragedy for the State of Tennessee, especially in Sevier County where I've lived my entire life.  God knew just what our county needed when He ordained months ago that this movie would be shown nationwide last night.  It especially touched the hearts of those who live in this area.

Just in case you all don't fully understand the heart that Ms. Dolly Parton has for her hometown,
just look at what she's doing.....

In this time of political unrest and riots by those angry because the election didn't go their way.....
looting, shouting, beating one another up verbally and physically.....
I'm so proud to say that our county has rallied together and truly shown what it means to be a part of the "circle of love".

The main thing is having CHRIST at the center!

Please continue to pray for the families in the middle of this devastation.  There are still family members missing and the people aren't allowed to go back into the city of Gatlinburg as of yet. My heart is broken for those who have no idea where their loved ones are. I cannot even imagine being in their shoes.

And, just one more thing.
Somebody asked why God would allow something like this to happen.  I heard it explained best in a comment by somebody I don't even know.  God gives us free will and there was a person who chose to start a fire, whether intentionally or carelessly.  Our actions have consequences be they good or bad.

I prefer to focus on all the lives that God spared and all the camaraderie and support and outpouring of love that has united this area.

  1. So well put, Deb. I'm working on a blog post right now about this very thing. Keeping you and your home turf in prayer. Someday it will be my home turf as well.

  2. Wow! That free will explanation is a powerful one.
    And I am NOT at all surprised about Dolly Parton's generosity. God bless her!

  3. I just wish they could find the person who set the fire. What a senseless act. God bless Dolly for doing so much in this time of need. I have vacationed in Pigeon Forge several times and know how beautiful those mountains are. The damage is heartbreaking.

  4. Continuing to pray for you and your friends and family and the people of the great Smoky Mountain region. So wonderful that Dolly Parton is able to rally such support for the area. Praying for those whose lives have been touched by this great tragedy. But God will bring beauty for ashes, and the oil of joy for mourning...Isaiah 61:3

  6. I think what Dolly Parton is doing is wonderful, what a beautiful heart she must have. My heart has been sad for everyone in the path of this terrible fire...it's so hard to see the news clips and pictures. I love the scripture Pam shared...Isaiah 61:3

  7. Yes, it is nice to see our country come together.........the last 18 months has been difficult with such a political process of bullying that went on. We are broken people, hurting people, and yet hopeful people....still able to come together when people are in need. We loved Dolly's movie way up here in Iowa :) and her generous heart sets a great example for us all. Blessings on you friend and thanks for sharing this reminder of who we are through Christ who lives in us!
