{ Change of plans...}

When Jess got married we had planned all along to have her reception in the fellowship hall at the church where the wedding took place, but the closer to the wedding we got, the more I realized that the fellowship hall was just not gonna be big enough, that people were going to be sitting and eating off their laps. The invitations had already been printed (by my precious brother-in-law and sister-in-law, by the way) so I was a bit in a quandary as to what to do. I ended up printing inserts to go in the invitations that had at the top "Change of Plans" - and gave the address and directions to the place where the reception would take place.

I thought about that situation this morning as I had plans for today and they got changed.  I had outside plans - that didn't include RAIN! I got up early, as usual, tried to be quiet, as usual - until I just got too antsy to sit still, so outside I went. I did manage to get the birdbath moved and set back up in my new flower bed, got creeping phlox dug up and bricks moved, all before the sprinkles turned into raindrops and I headed inside. Actually, the rain felt kinda nice until I started to get chilly. Maybe I needed the cleansing? But I thought about how grateful I am that I got Mom's yard mowed yesterday which I had planned to do today, but something - somebody??? - told me to go ahead with it yesterday.

After sharing Jeremiah 29:11 yesterday, maybe I should have known that God was gonna be trying to teach me a lesson about plans - my idea of them vs His. His are always better, even if  I don't understand or I can't make heads or tails of what the outcome is going to be. I'm trying to learn to leave it all in His hands and realize that His plans for me are the best!

  1. Sometimes it's so hard to leave things in God's hands, but that is the safest and best place to leave them and to leave ourselves.

  2. We started the day overcast and gloomy, as the day goes on it has become darker and more gloomy and now it's raining. It's supposed to rain all day with storms coming in tonight, why does it have storm? I wish we could enjoy the rain without the hail, winds, tornados and lightening strikes. {{sigh}} Once again, I know His plan is the best and He sends the storms for a reason. Your post and my comment and now I'm thinking of Carrie Underwood's song, Jesus Take The Wheel. YES, please Lord Jesus, take the wheel in our lives!

  4. Jeremiah 29:11 gives us so much comfort but sometimes when life gets crazy and we don't know what to do it isn't always easy to fall back on His word. But, when we do our troubles just lift away. Trust!! We haven't had rain for a few days now but we sure did have some heavy rain for a few days in a row! Glad you got some yard work done at your mom's and in your yard!
