"Abby" Normal.....

I got a chuckle out of this little sign!
Is any family truly "normal"?
I guess it just depends on the definition of the word "normal", right?
I'm so grateful for the family God chose just for me.
Growing up wasn't always easy,
but everything we go through changes and molds us....
whether that's good, or bad.....
and whether it means I'm "normal".....
or "Abby" Normal!!!
(name that movie)

Nice Normal Family sign

Hope everybody has a Marvelous Monday!!!

Priorities.....

This post is more for myself than y'all.
But, if somebody reads this and maybe can glean some little tidbit from it,
then that's great, too!!!

The realization that I came to when I wrote the post "Letting Go" at the end of March has really stuck with me!!!
In the last few months I've come to realize that I truly need to focus on the people in my life who matter.
My Mom's health and the cancer one of my best friends is going through has really made me stop and think about all the times I've allowed what others think of me, or how they treat me, to be way too important.
Self-pity can really be the pits and cause me to be a.....
Debbie Downer!!!

I'm not saying that everybody shouldn't matter.....
but I need to prioritize.
God should ALWAYS be first.....
although, I often take HIM for granted the most.

My Mom has said some of the sweetest things to me the last few weeks.
I believe she realizes that her heart is starting to wear out.
No matter how I was brought up....
no matter what things were said and done....
all of those memories just seem to fade into the distance at the thought of losing the one person who gave me life.

Deb

Owl be praying for you!!!

Please continue to keep my brother and Mom in your thoughts and prayers.

Randy is home....but in a lot of pain.  My sis-in-law has the task of changing his bandages, which in her words, "almost made me puke".  I took from that statement just how bad they must be....and I know that's why he doesn't want me and Mom to come and see him just yet.  He cannot drive or go back to work until the doctor at Vanderbilt discharges him, which means a trip back to Nashville to be checked by that doctor.  I don't know when that will be.

As for my Mom....seems we get over one hurdle just to be faced with another one.  She's anemic....and they found she's loosing blood.  Her primary care doctor is going to confer with one of her heart doctors to see how to proceed.  Please pray for her doctors, too, as to what treatment will be the best.

You might want to say a teensy-tiny prayer for me, too.

Thanks, Sweet Readers....y'all are the best!

February 25, 2012
An old, dear friend of mine posted this on Facebook yesterday.
It spoke to my heart because this is a lesson that God has been trying to teach me so much lately!!!
Thank you, precious Lord, for gentle reminders every day to be grateful for my friends and family....
....and to let go of those who don't really care at all!!!

This picture was taken last Friday night (the 23rd) when we had our family get-together for "my side" of the family.  I love the pic because of how happy my Mom is....and how good she looks....and the fact that she is alive and with us after giving us such a scare.  Thank you, Lord, for sparing her life!!!

A wreath sent by my precious friend, Ms. Dawn, when Mamaw passed away.  It smelled so good when I took it out of the box it was shipped in.  It's hanging in the sun room drying!!!  I think of Mamaw and Dawn's kindness every time I look at it!!!

Martin gourds!!
I'm always reminded of my father-in-law when I see these....
....he loved to sit on the back porch
and watch the martins come and go!!
But, those birds are MEAN!!!
Don't ask me how I know?!?

I can tell you who gave me just about every flower and/or bush in our yard! This one came from my precious father-in-law! They're called red hot pokers. Wish I could get a pic of the really neat, but odd, birds who like to eat the seeds!!!

My Mamaw's Hands

(courtesy of Jessica Leigh Photography -
click on picture to enlarge and read)

These are the hands of my Mamaw, my Mom, Jess, me, and our GRAND-sons.  This was a Mother's Day gift to each of us several years ago from Jess.

When I would go visit Mamaw, I would always try to sit by her on the couch and hold her hand....she never offered to pull her hand away, would just sit and hold hands with me.  Hers, feeble and wrinkled....mine fast getting the same way.  I asked God to give me a sweet memory of her that would be so different than what we saw yesterday and He brought back the reminder of her hands....and I found out thru my sweet friend that Jess had posted a picture of Mamaw's hands on FB last night.

Then I remembered that the first thing I noticed when Pappy and I walked into the room yesterday....was Mamaw's hand was outside her cover....I do believe she was reaching to let Jesus take her hand and lead her home!

Happy Mother's Day!
