Five on Friday!!!

Thessalonians 5:18 (KJV)In every thing give thanks:
for this
is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

I haven't done a "Five on Friday" in quite a while, so I thought I would try to come up with five things that I'm thankful for this week. Remember I said I wanted to devote a few blogs between now and Thanksgiving to being thankful for all my blessings....so here goes....and be forewarned...it is very long! These are not in any certain order...just what happens to be on my heart!!!

Blessing Number 1 - Answered Prayers
First of all I'm grateful for my salvation and that God heard that prayer I prayed as an eleven year old girl when I asked Jesus into my heart. I've prayed lots of prayers since that day, and I know He has heard every one of them.
Including.....the one I prayed this week....
our "The Cross" Bible study was about bitterness. I prayed really hard that day for a specific person that God would take away their bitterness (not that I don't have some of my own to get rid of!!).....anyway, that very person blessed me with such a wonderful gift one day this week. All I can say is that there is such power in prayer. God is still in the business of hearing us and answering our prayers.
Often...probably, most of the time...
not in the way that we ask...but...
far better than we could have ever imagined.
So....first of all I'm thankful to God for answering prayers!!!

Psalm 6:9 (NLT) The Lord has heard my plea; the Lord will answer my prayer.

Blessing Number 2 - My FamilyI am so grateful for my family. I am grateful for the wonderful Daddy and Momma that He blessed me with. I truly miss my Dad...so very much...I saw a little sign in a magazine just recently and it read, "Old As She Was, She Still Missed Her Daddy Sometimes"! It brought tears to my eyes...because...as old as I am, I do still miss my Daddy sometimes. I am grateful for my Mom. She taught me to sew and to crochet. She has to be one of the hardest working women I've ever known...especially not to be any bigger than a "mess of minutes"!!! I spent some time with her this week, and it was soooo nice!!! I love you, Mom!! You know, sometimes growing up, we don't always get along with our parents. But, as we grow older, we realize that the things that happen in our lives mold us and make us who we are. I was blessed to know so many of my grandparents and am still very blessed and honored to have my Mamaw Hillard. She means the world to me!!!
And, then there's our daughter. I could write a book on the love I have for her!!! Then, she up and married The Dad and he treats me so good...he is always so grateful for anything that we do for them (which isn't much, except for loving our grandsons). And, they are in church and bringing up the boys in a Christian home.
And...talk about writing a book....I wouldn't even know where to start writing about the love for those precious little boys!!!

Proverbs 17:6 (NLT)
Grandchildren are the crowning glory of the aged;

parents are the pride of their children.

Speaking of grandsons....we kept them while Jess and The Dad went to a meeting last night.
Here are a few pics I took while they were here.

Look how Little Bit is growing. It makes me sad. I want him to stay a little baby, but he will be a year old next month!! He is so precious. Look at him with Pap's cap on!!!
Talk about growing up....look at Big Brother!! He is the most loving little guy ever. Sometimes, he will throw his head back and laugh...but never with a camera pointed at him!!! You should see how much he loves his baby brother. It's so precious to see them holding hands, both of them in their car seats. When we go out to eat, Jess always prays before we eat, and he folds his little hands and bows his head. Yes, Nana's heart just melts!!!

Blessing #3 - PapI truly must be the most blessed woman in the world for God to have chosen Pap for me...and me for him. When we were dating, and decided to get married....I don't remember praying if he was the right one. I must have just left that decision up to God!!! Have we always gotten along??? Of course not!! I heard a man say once that he and his wife had never had an argument....I think one of 2 things...either he wasn't telling the truth...or, they never spoke a word to each other!!! Pap is such a hard worker....he has been the sole provider for us since God prompted us to make the decision for me to quit my job. He is so faithful in everything that he does....and, unless you know him very well, you don't realize just how much he knows about the Bible. And...he loves our boys just as much as I do. Ever since Big Brother was just a baby, Pap has sat in the window of our sun room and sat him on the back of the couch to look out the window. Now, he does the same, but with 2 boys. I took this pic last night when the boys were here. Big Brother was looking for the kitty cats that live in our wood pile!!!

Genesis 2:24 (NKJV)
Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Blessing #4 - Friends
I have been blessed with some wonderful friends in my life. I like that e-mail that we get about friends who come in and out of our lives and how they are all for a reason, season, or a lifetime. Since we started at BSBC, I've been blessed with a couple of wonderful ladies who e-mail me daily and pray for me...there is nothing like knowing that somebody is praying for you and has the confidence in you to ask you to pray for them, too. I have a sweet friend who works where I did...we try to get together every few months and go out to eat so that we can recharge our batteries!!! And, I couldn't do without my "on-line friends"!! Jess is also one of my very best friends. How many of you know that when she got married, she asked me to be her matron of honor??? It's true. She told me I was her best friend and I was who she wanted standing up there with her....so.....I was her matron of honor and her Dad gave her away!!! I was so honored that she asked me to do that for her!!!
It was such a beautiful ceremony!!!

Philippians 1:3 (KJV)

I thank my God upon every
remembrance of you.

In His Love...and with mine!!!
