Weekly Recap #44 - Part 1 - Luke 19-24

It's so hard to believe that we only have 8 more weeks to go until we finish up our "reading the Bible thru".  It's also quite hard to fathom....that I've been able to take notes for FORTY-FOUR weeks and not gotten behind.  I really thought I would slip up this week due to our daughter's surgery....
....but God....
(don't you love those words?)....
....prompted me at 4:00 one morning to read....and between then, and later on in the day....I got my reading finished up for this week!!!

Praise HIS name.....HE is AWESOME!!!

So....let's finish up the Book of Luke!!!

Jesus and Zacchaeus

I love the story about Zacchaeus....and I love hearing our baby GRAND-son sing, "Zacchaeus was a wee little man"!!  Okay, I know I'm getting a little off-track...it's just difficult not to say something about our boys!!!

Zacchaeus was a chief tax collector and was very rich.  He tried to get a look at Jesus but he was too short to see over the crowd, so he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree beside the road.  When Jesus passed by, He looked up and said to Zacchaeus....
Luke 19:5
.....Zacchaeus, quick, come down!  I must be a guest in your home today."

Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey as the people spread their garments on the road ahead of Him.  His disciples sang a song of praise to Him.
Jesus drove out the people buying and selling in the Temple.

A poor widow dropped 2 small coins in the collection  box at the Temple....but the rich people were dropping in much more.  Jesus said that the widow had given more than all the rest of them because she had given all she had.

Judas decided to betray Jesus to the authorities.
Jesus and His disciples observed the Lord's Supper.

Jesus told  Simon Peter that he would deny Him 3 times before the rooster crowed.
Luke 22:40
....pray that you will not give into temptation.
In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prayed to God....
Luke 22:42
....Yet, I want Your will to be done, not mine.

Judas betrayed Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane with a kiss.

Just as Jesus predicted, Peter denied that he knew Him 3 times before the rooster crowed.

Jesus was mocked and beaten.

Jesus was taken to Pilate, the Roman governor.  Since Jesus was from Galilee, Pilate sent Him to Herod because Galilee was under Herod's jurisdiction.  Herod and his soldiers mocked and ridiculed Jesus and sent Him back to Pilate, who sentenced Jesus to die as they demanded.

Jesus was crucified and said from the cross....
Luke 23:34
Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing.

One of the criminals crucified with Him said that the two thieves deserved to die, but "this man hasn't done anything wrong."  Then, he asked Jesus to remember him when He came into His kingdom.  Jesus told him....
Luke 23:43
I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.

Jesus shouted from the cross....
Luke 23:46
Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands
And, He died.

Joseph of Arimathea in Judah took Jesus' body down from the cross and wrapped it in a long sheet of linen  cloth and laid it in a new tomb that had been carved out of rock.

Two of Jesus' followers were walking to the village of Emmaus, seven miles from Jerusalem.  As they walked along, they were talking a bout everything that had happened.  Suddenly, Jesus Himself came and began walking with them, but God kept them from recognizing Him.  One of them was Celophas and he told Jesus, when He asked what they were discussing that He must be the only person in Jerusalem who hasn't heard about all the things that had happened.
Jesus asked him, "What things?"
At the end of t heir journey, they invited Jesus to spend the night with them and as they sat down to eat and He took the bread and blessed it, their eyes were opened and they recognized Him and at that moment, He disappeared.

Jesus led them to Bethany, and lifting His hands to heaven....He  blessed them and was taken up to heaven.

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!
