Celebrating my Mom.....

I tried to find scripture to use for today that would be specifically applicable to my Mom and this verse from Proverbs describes her perfectly.....

Although our relationship had some very tumultuous times for several years,
we are closer now that I had ever thought we would be.
Oh, we still have our moments.....
but they are few and far between compared to the past.

She is truly one of the strongest women I've ever known and that applies to her on many different levels.  I told her recently that I feel her calling in life was to be a caregiver.  She had me at a fairly young age, then my brother came along. She took care of my Dad during the years he was sick, and then her own Mom when her health failed.
She isn't afraid of anything.....
something that I certainly didn't inherit from her because I'm full of fears.

Yes, this scripture is so fitting for my Mom.....
strong, dignified and fearless!

I thank God for her.....
because regardless of our past relationship.....
it still helped to mold me into the woman I am today.....
so very dependent on my precious Lord and Savior!

  1. Definitely a beautiful photo of you with your mother, Deb. Relationships are complicated sometimes, aren't they?

    1. Yes....I feel female relationships can be very difficult, especially mother/daughter. I have some "Spiritual Mothers" God has blessed me with, but He also blessed me with my Momma. She did the best she could, with her own "issues". She's one of a kind and I love her dearly!!

  2. A beautiful tribute to your mom. The photos are lovely. Mom and I have also had our times of friction but God has helped us in our relationship. Happy Mother's Day to you.

    1. Thank you, Ms. Melanie....and thank you for your honesty about your own relationship with your Mom. With all the troubles growing up, they still made me who I am today....a bit CraZy at times, though...;-)!!!

  3. Enjoyed the pictures. I can certainly understand troublesome times between a mother and daughter. My mom and I were constantly at odds with each other, up to the very end. But she was still Momma and I loved her, and I know she loved me, we just couldn't always 'get it together.' Hope you enjoyed your Mother's Day!

    1. I would have never guessed any friction in your relationship with your Mom in a million years. I've always felt such guilt that I couldn't "fix" things with Mom and me. Yesterday was a great day. We took Mom with us to a cookout at Jess' and we all had a wonderful time...hard not to with our kiddos! :)
