Wednesday's Word - Distraction.....

I've  got to be the world's worst, or maybe I should say the world's best at getting distracted.  I started reading my Psalm for the day one morning and found myself reading the same verses over.....
and over.....
and over.....
when I suddenly realized I had no clue what I had just read.
There was a dog barking.
My mind kept racing.
Pappy was home sick.
I kept checking text messages on my phone.
I was over thinking situations going on in my life and playing different scenarios in my head.
I was thirsty.
And, I needed to go to the bathroom.
Okay, that last one was totally TMI!!

What about you?
Are you easily distracted, too?
PLEASE say yes!

HOPE everybody has a Wonderful Wednesday!

Breathing in Grace,

  2. Oh my mercy Deb. I used to NOT be so easily distracted but I am now! Marty says my main issue is that I Have too many irons in the fire at the same time and for the most part he is right. But boy! Satan will cause me all sorts of distractions when I am in the Word. That is another major reason that years ago I decided to do the "bulk" of my Bible Study prep. for teaching at a local park. On my lunch hour...no distractions. Thanks for sharing this today! Hugs and blessings, Cindy

    1. I love that old saying, "too many irons in the fire". My Daddy used to say that to Mom! Satan gives me lots of distractions, too, as I listed. The day I did go outside, I did better....except for the birds....and a bee buzzing by.....and......LOL!!!

  3. Hi Deb! I think I'd give you a run for your money for the distracted crown. While I was reading your post, my husband was asking me what I want from the store, and my phone was buzzing. Sigh... I guess we can be glad we can cope with the noise? But your Scripture passage says otherwise. Find my path and walk it with the goal in mind. Maybe I have to juggle a few things, but I can certainly decrease the amount of activities that distract me!
    Wishing you a distract-less day :)

    1. I've actually had a very good day, Ms. Ceil....it's bee a good week, I'm just so very tired....spreading topsoil and sowing grass seed and moving planters and tying up tomato plants and taking off trash and dusting and vacuuming....and people ask "what do you do all day"? Oh, nothing....lay back and eat grapes and bon-bons and read!!! ha! ha!

  4. Deb, I'm right there with you! I find myself mentally making out my grocery list while I read and so many things. I have actually taken to reading aloud which seems to capture my attention a bit more. I'm laughing at Debbie's comment above about eating grapes and bon-bons! Some people feel that is what retirement is all about! Have a blessed day.

    2. Deb - the grapes and bon bons comment is from you in answer to Ceil's comment. It's right above my comment here. :)

  5. OH, OH...I can get distracted...I say oh oh, because lately, since I have been home and not in classes, it seems there is one distraction after another. Mainly a 49 year old and an 18 year who demand attention, wink. All silliness aside, yes, friend, I do get distracted. I so enjoyed you comment above, "Bon Bon's and eat grapes". Funny, my mil, she told my husband that he is "riding my coat tails now", whatever...lol--Blessings sweet friend.

    1. I get distracted very easily. I use a lot of essential oils, and I'm gonna have to research what oil is good for memory! ;-)

  6. Okay, Deb, I must have been half asleep when I wrote my comment. It finally dawned on me after I posted my comment that the "Debbie" who ate the bon-bons was you! :) I guess I need to wait and blog visit after my second cup of coffee! LOL
