{ Wednesday's Word - Birds }

Psalm 104:12
The birds nest beside the streams
    and sing among the branches of the trees.

One of my favorite things we own is our bird feeder. I must have taken after my Daddy because that's something he enjoyed, too, and so does my brother.  I love seeing all the birds come and eat. Since the weather has been so cold the last few days, there's been a feeding frenzy. Yesterday, I was excited to see a bird I hadn't seen before show up. Pappy suggested I "Google" black and white birds in Tennessee and I found it!  She (the male has a red spot on his head) is a downy woodpecker. Here's a picture of her sitting in the rhododendron beside the feeder.

And a little male house finch showed up, too.....

Matthew 6:26
Look at the birds.
They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns,
for your heavenly Father feeds them.
And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?

We have SNOW today and it's only 21 degrees.
That's probably considered a heat wave for some of you, right?

Wherever you are, stay warm.....
and safe!!

  1. Awe...I too love a bird feeder. BUT WE HAVE TONS OF SQUIRRELS TOO! A few years ago I bought one of those high dollar squirrel proof bird feeders. I was so proud! Well, by the end of last summer the squirrels had learned just what to do and I caught them. They would climb the tree over the bird feeder. Jump on the feeder though they could not latch onto the feeder but when they jumped on it the feed would fall to the ground. They would climb back up the tree and start again! I watched them out of my kitchen window one morning and could not believe my eyes! GIRLFRIEND...I got some tough squirrels in my neck of the woods! Love seeing the bird pictures Deb. Stay warm! Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  2. HA!!!! Finally can see your pictures (beautiful, my friend) and post a comment. It is a balmy 19* now here in western NY--at least it is sunny--albeit it snow squalls at times, lol. Blessings sweet friend.

  3. I love to watch the birds hop around and find the food God has prepared for them. Their singing brings a smile to my face and joy to my spirit!

  5. I love the pictures, I'm a big birdwatcher too, imagine that?! We have a bird bath in front of the window by our table. I love to sit there while I'm having lunch and watch a bird play in the water. Doesn't happen everyday but I wish it did!! Hope you had great day. ((hugs))
