{ Friday Foto Friends #35 }

Remember a few weeks ago when I shared this photo of Mrs. Robin who had built her nest in the crepe myrtle right up against the front of the house?

Well, that particular nest that I showed y'all got torn down.  Not sure if a cat came along and got her eggs, but one morning the nest was on the ground.  I guess "third time's the charm" because it took her three tries to finally get to raise her little family.  She went back to the original place of building in the wisteria vine a bit farther away from the house.  Her first nest somehow got destroyed, too. (not  by me....I will.not tear down a nest if there are eggs in it) I tried and tried to get a picture, but she kept dive bombing me,  flying straight for my head.   For some reason, our daughter and Pappy were able to get up close and personal to the nest on the 4th of July.  Maybe the kids playing in the yard was just the deterrent needed.

Here's the shot our daughter got.....

So glad Mrs. Robin finally became a Momma!

Overheard in an Orchard
Said the robin to the sparrow,
"I would really like to know
Why those anxious human beings
rush around and worry so
."

Said the sparrow to the robin,
"Friend, I think that it must be
That they have no Heavenly Father
such as cares for you and me
."

~Elizabeth Cheney - 1859~

HOPE y'all have a great weekend!

  1. Isn't it wonderful to be able to watch Mother Nature. I had a family of sparrows one year in my Rosemary bush. I loved watching them grow and fly away!

  3. So sweet! I was able to peek into a nest one time. I didn't touch anything but the next day the babies were gone so I'm wondering if the mother bird moved them. I just love to see God's creation up close. Have a blessed day.

  6. Sad that the robin had to work so hard but her determination paid off. Now she has a home to raise her wee birds. You've got some lovely photos to mark the occasion.
