{ SONday Morning Song - Thou, O Lord }

September 11, 2001

I was working in an office along with one other lady.
Our "boss" was on vacation in Europe and was expected back the next day.
The radio was on and we could tell from the interruption of music that something "big" had just happened.  We immediately went into the little kitchenette and turned on the television and immediately witnessed the second plane hitting the remaining twin tower in New York City.  I still wasn't sure what I was even watching.  As the day went on and more details poured in church services were called for that evening, Medic set up different places to donate blood, people couldn't wait to reunite with loved ones just to be sure they were safe and sound.  I made calls to my husband and daughter and my Mom for that  very reason.  At church that evening I can still remember the fear on each of our faces.  A young teenage girl who was in my SONday School class sat with me and lay her head on my shoulder for most of the service and cried.  All I could do was put my arm around her and comfort her.  I had now words.....
how could I explain something to her that I didn't understand myself.
The lady I worked for and her husband weren't allowed back into the country because airports had been shut down. When they finally did get to fly back to America, they were routed through LaGuardia. The days and weeks and months that followed were full of television programs, written articles, everything was about Nine-Eleven.  Many Americans, including myself, fell into somewhat of a depression because of what had just happened in the greatest country in the world.....
AMERICA!

Where were you on that most tragic of days?
I'm sure, like me, you can remember exactly.

(one of my favorite songs)

HOPE each of us will take some time to remember the families of those who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001.....

and pray for America to draw closer to God like they did 15 years ago.
Let's not let it take another terrible tragedy to wake us up.

  1. It was an awful day. I was at work when I heard the news. We didn't have a tv there but listened on the radio. It was also my wedding anniversary - the first one since Alan had passed away. It was such an emotional day on all levels.

  2. A very sad day for our country. I was at home on that morning, just couldn't believe what I was hearing and seeing. Many prayers went up that terrible day.

  3. Getting Liam around for preschool...and hubby came in from his shift and told us we weren't going anywhere as America was under attack...just a sad, sad day...I still can't look or even hear the bells without crying.

Hope you have a beautiful SONday friend.

  4. A friend and I was shopping a hour away from home when we heard something on a radio coming from one of the stores we were in, we went to the counter and asked what it was. I was shocked that this could be happening. Always a reminder that danger can be anywhere at anytime, keep our eyes on the ONE that is always with us and keeps us!

  5. I was getting ready to go shopping at the commissary and had the tv on when I heard.
Ken worked at Ft Meade at the time. Needless to say I didn't go to the commissary on the base that day.
Such an awful sad day. Seems hard to believe it was 15 years ago.
