{ Friday Foto Friends #140 }

This isn't gonna be the usual post I do on Friday, but I will be sharing a foto.  I almost changed the title to, "When Life Gives You Lemons" because here's what's been going on in our neck of the woods.

A couple of weeks ago the icemaker went out on our fridge. Now, most of Y'all don't personally know my husband, but if you did, you'd know that he exhausts absolutely every single effort he has to fix something broken before he breaks down and buys new. He certainly lives up to "Jack of all trades" 'cause he really has saved us lots of money over the years with his repair work.  We've been purchasing bagged ice because I don't have any ice trays and if I did, there's no room in the freezer to put them, but now a new icemaker is on the way and should be here Saturday!

And.....
speaking of a freezer.
We've had a chest type freezer in our basement for 30+ years and one day last week it began dying a slow death. This wasn't something that Pappy could fix and besides that, we didn't have time to wait because we had food that was going to spoil. A new freezer was definitely not what we had planned to spend money on (insert sad face) but this gave me a chance to clean out the freezer and get rid of things that should have been thrown away long before now. Way down deep in the bottom I found a freezer bag full of blackberries. Pappy LOVES blackberry cobbler.

So.....
when life gives you lemons, or in this case blackberries.....

 Pappy was telling a sweet lady from our church about the things that had been tearing up and she said that it usually happened in 3's. I was totally dreading thinking about what would break down next when he came home yesterday telling me about the saga surrounding my she-shed. (insert sad face again)  I'll try to share that dilemma with Y'all on Monday!

  1. Hello Debbie, I can understand your sad face and like you I try hard not to let it get me down but to make lemonade out of lemons :-) Life is so much nicer that way. I agree with whoever told you things seem to happen in 3s. I don't know why that is but it is. I hope over the weekend you have some nice news and blessings. Hugs. xx

  2. We used to say the same thing that usually it happens in threes. :) Love the new header Debbie. In fact I'm featuring Mr. Hunter in my FFF today. Have a day of blessings my friend. The blueberry cobbler looks delicious!

  3. I am SO sorry to hear of your freezer/ice-maker/she-shed blues. I totally understand...we've had our share of appliance non-repairs/replacements over the past few years. And nothing is cheap, but they are really made "cheap" and do not last as long as they used to. Happy you and Pappy got a blackberry cobbler out of the mess!!! God is good. We are leaving this morning for GA and NC for the weekend. I'll check back in Monday.

  5. I'm so sorry to hear about your freezer and ice maker going bonkers. We've had our refrigerator for about 25 years now and I am really dreading when it decides to die on us because I don't care for the styles of the new fridges. Praying nothing else breaks for you. Your blackberry cobbler looks DELICIOUS. Makes my mouth water.

  8. That cobbler looks so yummy!! Sorry things are not right, sometimes it seems like one thing after another goes out. There's another old saying, 'when it rains it pours' ~ well maybe it always pours lemonade. :) Hope you have a great day! ((hugs))

  9. This is a post I can so relate to, in more ways than stuff breaking down. Glad you got a new freezer and ice maker. Is the ice maker something separate from your fridge? The blueberry cobbler looks wonderful!

  10. Frustrating when it feels as if it's just one thing after another! Go have a big ol' serving of that blackberry cobbler, you deserve it. ((BIG HUGS))

  12. The cobbler does look delicious! Those berries were a nice find in the bottom of the freezer! I have a love-hate (mostly hate) relationship with the tiny 2-door fridge in our kitchen. There isn't room in either side for much of anything. BUT... as long as it is running, I will 'love' it.

  13. Either of those things could have been a major issue but thankfully you only had minor lemons or in your case blackberries. I look forward to reading more on Monday.
