Turn your eyes upon Jesus

These words were part of a devotional I received last week from Living Free!

How do you see yourself? 

Is your self-image based on other people's words and actions toward you? 

Or is it based on the truth of God's Word? 

God knew you before you were even born. 

He created you … 

and his works are wonderful.

This week we will be considering more about who we are in Christ. 

As we learn to let Jesus help us take our eyes off ourselves 

and begin the process of putting our eyes on him, 

he is able to heal us.

This is exactly what I'm trying to do when I say I'm.....

Blessed Assurance!!!

This sweet little girl has started referring to me as "my Nannie".

"I go home with 'my Nannie' ".

"I stay here with 'my Nannie' ".

"I sit on 'my Nannie's" lap".

Can you even begin to imagine what that does to this Nannie's heart?

It reminded me of how I feel about "my Jesus".

I know He's not just mine.....

but, I sometimes find it so difficult to believe that He would love an old.....gray haired.....overweight woman like me!!!

Our pastor made a statement recently that there was one thing that he had learned......

"There's NOTHING we can do to make God love us any more.....

or any less".

Thank you so much, precious Savior.....

for dying on the cross for my sins.....

so that I can call you "MY JESUS"!!!

Wednesday's Word - Breathe

Who do you trust?

I was walking out of the dining room and saw what I thought was a small piece of paper on the carpet.  

I bent down to pick it up and it was just a very tiny reflection of light coming from.....

I have no idea where!!!

Almost immediately the thought came to me that I had been deceived.....

what I thought was one thing was something entirely different.

Has that ever happened to you?

Have you ever been deceived by a family member.....

or somebody you thought was your friend?

Have you ever opened up your heart and allowed somebody in.....

and then after all was said and done you wished a thousand times over you hadn't been so truthful and honest?

Has somebody ever led you to believe one thing about them.....

when they had lots of hidden "secrets" they hoped you would never learn?

Is there somebody in your life who just lives to jab you with snide remarks and insults.....

sometimes very subtly.....

and other times in public?

Have you ever come to your own defense.....

and then wondered if that was the right thing to do?

Have you ever apologized and that apology was met with.....

silence?

What are your thoughts on all these questions I'm pondering in my heart today?

Change is in the air.....

So often, I've allowed things that have happened in my past to get me bogged down in a miry pit.  

I also find it very difficult to forgive myself sometimes.  

A couple of years ago, I started doing a little "exercise" when I would start feeling overwhelmed where I would take a deep breath and simply breathe in Jesus.....

and breathe out whatever the "demon of the moment" might be.  

Hence the new blog title....."Breathing in Jesus"!!!

A few things that I'm working on breathing out.....

fears

rejection

self condemnation

hopelessness

prejudices

pride

anger

jealousy

irritations

discouragements

bitterness

self pity

stress

accusations

.....and instead.....

breathing in Jesus.....

and His grace and His mercy.....

but, most of all His Love!!!

Taking a deep breath and realizing.....

change can be good!!!

The Spirit of God has made me, 

and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.
