Friendship

I got the most wonderful compliment about my blog yesterday. My precious friend...who in the past hadn't really cared for blogs...told me that she had changed her opinion of blogs, after reading mine. When I first started, it was to show some of my crochet and sewing. Since I've started trying to write something every day, I want it to be a reflection of my love for God, my family, and my friends....I truly want it, and everything I do, to be for the glory of God...now, that does not mean that everything I do is right, and certainly not perfect. I won't be perfect until I reach heaven...but...until then...I hope every day to grow more spiritually mature!!!
So...that being said....my little blog today will be on friendship.
And if you know me...you know I have to go check with Merriam-Webster for the correct definition:
Friendship - the state of being friends.
Friend - one attached to another by affection, or esteem; a favored companion.
I looked up some scripture that refers to friend. Here are some of the verses I really liked:
And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend....Exodus 33:11 (I liked this one...can't you just picture the Lord speaking to you, face to face...I had to take him out of the box I had him in to let this happen...He is AMAZING!!!)

A friend loveth at all times...Proverbs 17:27 (This does not mean that we're going to agree with everything that our friend says, or does...or that they will agree with us. Sometimes we have to "agree to disagree"!!!)

A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother...Proverbs 18:24 (I love my earthly brother...we don't see each other very often because life just gets in the way...but he knows I love him (I hope). But we have a Friend that sticks closer than a brother...Jesus...WOW!!!)

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends....John 15:13

Would you be willing to lay down your life for your friend? That's a tough question. I would like to think that I would..but...would I??? I know I would for my family...but, for "just" a friend. When Jesus willingly died on the cross...we had never met...but He knew me...He already knew all about me...that makes tears come to my eyes...I've heard it said that if I had been the only one, He would have still gone to the cross...just for me!!! That is the ultimate definition of a friend!!

So...here is what I'm leaving you with...the words to the song "What a Friend We Have in Jesus"!!!!

What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins
and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God
in prayer! O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our refuge; take it to the Lord in prayer. Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer! In his arms he'll take and shield thee; thou wilt find a solace there.
