Happy Mother's Day

As we become a mother ourselves....and especially as we get older.....we start to understand more where our own Mom was coming from in a lot of her thinking and her actions (Jess, you're turn is comin').

We're not perfect people....so therefore, we're not gonna be perfect at being a Mom.
But God (don't you just love "but God").....He makes no mistakes....and He chooses our families for a reason.

I thank Him for the family He chose for me.
I thank Him for my Mom!!
I love her more....and understand her better.....as I've gotten older myself.

My Mom has taken care of somebody for most of her adult life.  She raised me and my brother.  My Dad suffered from emphysema and she took care of him for several years before his death.....and now she is taking care of her Mom....my Mamaw who will be 99 years old later this year.

What better example of a Mother than being a caregiver!!!

Mom at 1 year old

A favorite pic of my Dad and Mom....not sure what year it was taken....but long before my Dad quit smoking because of his emphysema.
I caught them off-guard in a hug!!

I love this picture.  It was taken last Halloween by Jess.  Mom got on the ground in the leaves to play with the boys!!!

You know how I love quotes, or "sayings".....here's two that I remember so well from my Mom as I was growing up:

"Nothing ever stays the same"
and
"If I live and nothing happens"

Now.....that last one used to sorta drive me nuts.....especially if I really wanted to do something in the near future, and she would say "if I live and nothing happens"....instead of just saying, "I promise"!!!
I didn't realize until I was grown and married that her statement was actually based on scripture.  I came across the following verse while studying for a Sunday school lesson....and in the Bible that I was using at the time I wrote "Mom" out from this verse:

James 4:14-15 (NLT) -How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.”

Happy Mother's Day, to my precious Momma!

I love you more than you'll ever be able to realize!

Proverbs 6:20-22 (NLT) -  My son, obey your father’s commands, and don’t neglect your mother’s instruction.  Keep their words always in your heart.    Tie them around your neck.  When you walk, their counsel will lead you.  When you sleep, they will protect you.  When you wake up, they will advise you.

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!!
