Weekly Recap #24 - Psalm 41 - 75

One thing that I've noticed about reading thru the Psalms....is how so many of the verses of scripture are used as song lyrics.  I came across several this week that reminded me of Third Day songs!!!

Another thing I've realized....is that the psalmists were not afraid to ask questions and express that they had doubts....which made me realize even more that they were human just like we are....so they had a lot of the same feelings and emotions that we feel today!!!

Just like last week....since there's no storyline in the Book of Psalms....I want to just share some of the verses that stood out to me.
Oh...that reminds me of something that we talked about one night after VBS.  Some of us ladies were sitting and talking about how we read things in scripture and even though we might have read it many times before, it seems to just stand out to us.  We agreed that lots of times it depends on where we are in our faith...and what we're going thru, or facing in our life at the time...that makes it more meaningful to us!!!

Anyway....here are my faves this week....and some of the reasons why they spoke to my heart.

This one just reminds me of my Play List...and how much I love, love, love music....
Psalm 47:1
Come, everyone!  Clap your hands!
Shout to God with joyful praise!

Psalm 48:1A
How great is our Lord, how deserving of praise.

This one reminds me of a lady I know who just can't understand why some people seem to "have it all".....
Psalm 49:16-18
So don't be dismayed when the wicked grow rich and their homes become ever more splendid.  For when they die, they take nothing with them.  Their wealth will not follow them into the grave.  In this life, they consider themselves fortunate and are applauded for their success.

So often, we think we did it on our own....or.....pray and when our prayer is answered, fail to give the glory to God.....
Psalm 50:15
Then call on me when you are in trouble and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.

Do you ever feel like you've just lost your joy?
We can ask God to give it back!!!
Psalm 51:12
Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.
God really doesn't ask much of us....just to humble ourselves and repent to Him.
Psalm 51:17
The sacrifice You desire is a  broken spirit.  You will not reject a broken and a repentant heart, O God.

Do you ever just wish you could fly....just spread your wings and fly away from all the worry and stress of this life?!?!
Psalm 55:6-7
Oh, that I had wings like a dove; then I would fly away and rest! I would fly far away to the quiet of the wilderness.

I was truly scared this past Tuesday afternoon when a terrible thunderstorm came thru our neighborhood....with very high winds.  I did pray....but maybe not with this kind of confidence....
Psalm 56:3-4
But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in You.  I will praise God for what He has promised.  I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?

Sometimes we think that nobody cares....that nobody understand what we're going thru....why we're sometimes sad....well, God understands....
Psalm 56:8
You keep track of all my sorrows.  You have collected all my tears in your bottle.  You have recorded each one in your book.

This is a verse I need to memorize for when I am tempted to overeat.....
Psalm 63:5
You satisfy me more than the richest feast.

Another verse of scripture that makes our relationship with God so very personal....
Psalm 73:23
Yet I still belong to you;  You hold my right hand.

Here are my favorite verses from this week's reading....just because they tell what God did for me when He saved my soul!!!
Psalm 66:16-20
Come and listen, all you who fear God, and I will tell you what He did for me. For I cried out to Him for help, praising Him as I spoke.  If I had not confessed sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.
But God (there are those 2 words)....did listen!!
He paid attention to my prayer.  Praise God who did not ignore my prayer, or withdraw His unfailing love from me.

AMEN...and AMEN!!!

Saturday Blessings to each of you!!!

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!
