{ Marvelous Monday }

This is a modified excerpt from a book I just read that stood out and made me think .....

"Which is better - to be blind and optimistic—to wear rose-colored glasses and allow yourself to be vulnerable—or to be realistic and cynical? To be prepared for someone to disappoint you? To have your guard up and not be taken by surprise? Being an optimist doesn’t make you blind. A cynic can be blind too—in even worse ways. A cynic can miss out on something wonderful because they only see the dark side of it, so they steer away from a good thing because they expect it to go wrong eventually."

~ A Curve in the Road - Julianne MacLean ~

Want to share your thoughts on the statement?

Are you an optimist or a cynic?

I think I'm a bit of both and maybe we all are. I try to give the "benefit of the doubt", to show grace, to almost everybody, until I repeatedly witness their true colors. The cynicism comes to light because I do seem to have a lack of trust in folks.

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

In the meantime......

  1. I have to confess that I am a bit of a cynic and I'm asking God to change all that. I have to consciously prepare myself to look at the good in a situation. My mother was unfortunately that way and I guess I've come by it from her. God has a way though of pulling me up by my boot straps and adjusting my attitude. Have a lovely day.

  2. I hope that you have a marvelous day to my friend. It is Monday....Today is the day the Lord has made...Let us be glad and rejoice in it an that's what I have been telling myself thus far today. LOL! Well, I am optimistic but I am also a realist. I could write my book on these topics. LOL! Have a blessed day my friend. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  3. I am more of an optimist and sometimes it gets me into trouble. Being cynical now and then is probably smart.

  4. I tend to be an optimist, but I'm careful about what I'm optimistic about! So I think that makes me an optimistic realist. I try not to be too cynical...but it is easy to fall into that trap, and then it spoils all the fun of life. I like to view the world through eyes of thankfulness and joy as much as possible...and with God, anything is possible!!! Have a blessed rest of the week. I am reading this on Tuesday! Not sure where Monday went!!
