{ Moody Monday }

When I worked in an office and was under fluorescent lights all day, the weather didn't seem to affect me much.  It wasn't until I quit my full-time job and became a stay-at-home.....
Jacqueline of all trades (LOL)......
that I realized just how SAD I could become if there were too many dark, gray days in a row.

SAD.....
(click to read Mayo Clinic's definition)

When I told Pappy this morning that it was supposed to be rainy again today he started singing.....
"Let the sunshine, let the sunshine in, the sun, shine in!"
(remember "The Age of Aquarius"?)

Then this little song came to mind that I hadn't thought about in many years.....

So how do you beat the gray day blues?
Since I can't "fly south for the winter", I try to find other ways to help.  I turn on lamps because the more light the better.  I dig into God's Word because Satan loves nothing better than for me to give in to the gray-day thoughts.  Turning on the radio and listening to some awesome Christian music helps me a lot.  And, weather-permitting, I try to go for a walk.  Walking is a great mood enhancer for me!

Are you affected by SAD?
How do you overcome it?
I would love suggestions!

HOPE everybody has an awesome day.

Remember to let some SONshine into your life today!

And remember.....
SMILE!!!

Breathing in Grace,

  1. Deb, I don't know that I'm affected with SAD but if it's gloomy and cloudy, that is the time I usually light my candles. I will also turn on a light as well. We have so much sunshine down here in Florida and that might make the difference. I hope your day brightens up!

  2. We have so few gray days in Florida....the Sunshine State. SAD is not a problem for me, but I know it is real and does cause problems for many. I agree...let the sun shine in!! I know you can purchase a special bulb that mimics the sun. Sorry I don't know what it's called.

  3. I am so sorry to hear that you are one of the ones who feel the gray gloomy days so strongly. I can't begin to imagine what that must be like. ((Hugs)) I'm the weirdo who loves what others consider "bad" weather. Gray rainy days, foggy mornings, snow storms. I was going to suggest the same thing as Terri, those sun bulbs or the bulbs you can get to put in grow lights for plants.

  4. Deb, sorry to hear that you think you may have SAD. If you look on Amazon, they have several types of light that you can sit in front of and it prevents SAD. Another recommendation is to ask your Dr. to do a complete blood work up on you, and also test your Vit. D level. So many people have low Vit. D and it can cause feelings of sadness. I'll be praying! I love the cute things you have been making, especially the purse you made from the thrift store coat! You are so talented. Here in the mountains of NC we've been getting lots of rain and not much sun. God bless, Bev Proverbs 3:5,6

  5. I'm still smiling over the fact that God put almost the same message in our hearts today. Gloomy days can bring on a host of issues for some of us. We just need to always let the Son shine in !! ((hugs))

  6. My husband deals with some SAD and I can get down when doors need to be closed and the sun is hiding....I turn on more lights, praise music gets turned up and we walk, too! I also speak to it like the Bible says, and command it to leave, declaring "the joy of the Lord is my strength". Do you buy the full spectrum lights? They help Joel.

  7. We were just discussing this very thing, Deb...since I/we live (now) up north--where dark and gloomy days rules in the fall/winter--and we have change of seasons here...it has been quite a change...both physically and emotionally...SAD is a real thing...and I have no real answer for it...Blessings sweet friend.
