[ Friday Foto Friends #32 }

Proceed with caution:
picture overload.....
;-)

Pappy and I took a little day trip to Gatlinburg recently and drove through the Roaring Fork Nature Trail.  If you're ever in the area, it's well worth the drive off the beaten path and away from the crowds of downtown Gatlinburg (well, except for hikers).

Here are some pics we snapped along the way.

I love how the sun is coming in through the trees in this one and the moss growing on the rock.

These stacked stones remind me of how that was done in Biblical times to serve as a memorial, or a reminder.  I couldn't help but wonder who had stacked them and if they knew what it meant in scripture......
and, if so, what they were stacking them as a reminder of.

I'd REALLY like to have a fence like this down our property lines.

Just happened to get a picture of this VERY handsome man!

Do any of you know what the growth is on this tree?

Isn't this metal fence just awesome?
I know it looks like wood, though!
Look at all the neat little things made out of metal attached.
(click on the pic to enlarge for a better view)

This was the bathroom floor and I thought it was so neat.
I think they must have maybe painted the ferns on one side and lay them on the concrete floor.

A selfie of Pappy and me.
One question:
where are HIS wrinkles?

Thanks for taking a little trip through the mountains with us today.

HOPE y'all have a great weekend.
We're keeping our grand-kiddos this afternoon, tonight and tomorrow.....
yes.....
all FOUR of them.....
at the same time!

Maybe whisper a little prayer for us.....LOL!!!
;-)

(Feel free to link up with us below.
I'll try my best to visit you  before the weekend is over)

  1. It must be so nice! I followed the link and found the site about that park. And also the list of trees and wildflowers. Wow, how beautiful. The strange tree has a large burl. You can read more about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burl And ... are there real bears in that park?

    1. Yes, black bears. I always hope we get to see one, but as close as we came was one way up on a hill...we think it was sleeping.

  2. Allen and I came down here to Gatlinburg for our honeymoon, years before we moved here. We took the Roaring Fork Motor Trail on that first trip and I have been in love with it ever since. We would go up there quite frequently after we started living here. I have felt led to start my Faith Filled Friday back up, but I still want to link it every week to Friday-Foto-Friends. I love seeing everyone's pictures.

    1. I think this was only our 3rd time driving through. I had no clue about it till I saw a post on Facebook a few years ago. Not sure what rock I live under...LOL!

  3. Awesome sauce! We have taken that off beaten drive....there is a winding mountain drive that goes from Cades Cove back to Pigeon Forge---talk about daredevilish. Man, there were times when I thought we were going to go over. smiles

  4. Love all your photos. What a beautiful area! We've never been there, but have heard so many folks rave about it's beauty...can't wait to visit in person. Those rock stacks are called cairns and are often used to mark trails for fellow hikers. I love knowing they have a biblical reference, too.

  6. Those pics are absolutely stunning and I love your comments about the stacked stones. I don't think we saw that particular park when we were in the Smoky Mountains. Gorgeous. Every one of these pics just beautiful. And I don't see wrinkles on your face either.

Sorry I didn't link up today, I've been in a 'blah' mood the past few days. I think it must be the heat and humidity, I don't handle it well anymore. Love Ya Bunches!!
