{ Wednesday's Word - Tired }

Image result for jackie gleason america what offends you today

I saw this little sign and had to laugh.
But, oh the truth in the humor, right?

Are y'all as tired as I am over all the political debates and squabbles and back-stabbing and name calling? Are you tired of young punks (can I get in trouble for saying that?) refusing to honor the American flag and our National Anthem?  Are you tired of every single time you turn on the news it's yet another disaster, shooting, racist remark, or whatever might be the offense of the day?  Are you just plain tired of all the negativity, people never seeing the blessings that God gives each and every single day?  I guess since I'm tired of all these things I'm one of those "offended", too.

Please know I'm not down-playing any of those things, but sometimes I'd just like to go back to the days when I was growing up and the world was such a nicer place to live in.  People went to church and loved each other and kids played outside until dark and cell phones hadn't even been thought of and there was no Instagram, or Facebook and the words "social media" weren't even in our vocabulary.  We visited family and sat around and talked and went to drive-in movies.  We planted gardens and canned veggies in the summertime and it seemed that all was right with the world.

I know I'm not in this boat alone.....
but this is so me.....

Sigh.....
if only it were that easy.

  1. I had to giggle....yep, your post rings so true. I am reminded by something my mom once said, "Missy, the world is a cold harsh place. It does not revolve around you, but the other way around." (I was thinking about that yesterday sitting in class listening to a discussion about race). I am running behind in blogs and such, just so much homework and this is only the 3 rd week. smiles

    Have a beautiful day, friend.

  2. Yes,Deb, so much that I don't watch the news anymore. I'm trying to find good things in each day and let myself rest in God's control! This evening I will go to my grandsons football game and be thankful for my many blessings.

  3. yes ma'm! I agree 100%. I think it has a lot to do with us being children back then, too. I told my daddy this same thing just the other day. I miss not having a care in the world, where my daily goal was to get up and play. :)

  4. You may not see me, but I'm standing up and giving you a standing ovation! I am so tired too of the negativity. It seems the vogue now to protest something. Sports figures disrespecting the National Anthem has got to be right up with obnoxious, as far as I'm concerned. I miss snail mail instead of emails - telephone calls instead of texts. Oh my, Deb, you hit a chord here!

    People do get offended so easily now a days.
    Some things were certainly better back when we were kids, but all wasn't rosy then either.

  8. Oh my yes. Please take me back to those good old days. At least we (of a certain age) have those wonderful memories. Makes me wonder what kids today will have as memories when they reach our age. Sigh.

  9. Very tired of it all. Things have become so very childish and stupid.

  10. Sometimes it's very hard to 'adult' in today's world. Where are our ethics and our patriotism? Does it even exist anymore? It's heartbreaking to see all that's happening and how our country has changed. It seems right has become wrong and wrong has become right. Very sad, very sad indeed. But take heart...God has the victory and we are His!! He is our HOPE.
