Friday Fun - Hillbilly's Ten Commandments

Some people in Tennessee have trouble with all those "shalls" and "shall nots" in the Ten commandments. Folks around these here parts just ain't used to talkin' in those terms.

So.....some folks in middle Tennessee got together and translated the "King James" into "Jackson County" language....no joke, read on.....

The Hillbilly's Ten Commandments

(posted on the wall at Cross Trails Church in Gainesboro, TN)

(1) Just one God

(2) Honor yer Ma and Pa
(3) No tellin' tales or gossipin'
(4) Git yourself to Sunday meetin'
(5) Put nothin' before God
(6) No foolin' around with another fellow's gal
(7) No killin'
(8) Watch yer mouth
(9) Don't take what ain't yers
(10) Don't be hankerin' for yer buddy's stuff

Now that's kinda plain an' simple, don't ya think?

Y'all have a nice day.

Friday Blessings to each of you!!!

Frivolous Friday!!!

Happy Friday, my dear friends!!!

This has been such a crazy week for me....full of sickness and lots of things going on with our church family!!!  I guess some weeks are just like that, but WOW!!!  I'm hoping next week that things will settle down just a bit!!!

First "frivolous" thing I have to show you is my latest outdoor flag.  My friend, Dawn, asked me to post each time I change out my flag.  Well, I think I forgot the last time....so here's the one that I just hung outside in honor of Memorial Day.....

I saw this recipe and just knew I would have to share it with y'all.  If I make these....and I might just do it because Pappy loves angel food cake....I would use fat free and sugar free in most of the ingredients....and they wouldn't be bad for us at all!!!
If you try them...let me know what you think!!!
(I made the Oven Fried Taters last weekend using sweet taters.....they were soooo yummy!!!)

 Angel Lush Cupcakes

1 pkg. (16 oz.) angel food cake mix
1 pkg.  (3.4 oz.) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding
2 cans (8 oz. each) DOLE Crushed Pineapple in Juice, undrained
1 cup  thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping
2 cups assorted fresh berries (blueberries, raspberries and sliced strawberries)

HEAT oven to 375ºF.
PREPARE cake batter as directed on package; pour into 30 paper-lined muffin cups, filling each cup 2/3 full. Bake 12 to 15 min. or until tops are golden brown and cracks feel dry. (Note: If baking in batches, refrigerate remaining batter in bowl until ready to pour into lined muffin cups and bake.) Cool cupcakes in pans 10 min.; remove to wire racks. Cool completely.
MIX dry pudding mix and pineapple in medium bowl. Gently stir in COOL WHIP; spread onto cupcakes.
TOP with berries.

Yummy....nice and light and not so many calories, either!!!
Can't beat that with a stick!!!

And....last but not least.....I'm gonna leave you with a little Maxine cartoon that I found over at Christie Cottage .  It was too cute not to share!!!

Friday Blessings to each of you!!!

Mid-Life Crisis

(NO....I did not write this!!! I just received it in an
e-mail and could so very much relate....I thought I would share it with you other ladies who might be going thru some of the same things I am at this stage of my life!!! )

I've seen two shows lately that went on and on about how mid-life is a great time for women. Just last week, there was an entire show devoted to how great menopause will be......Puhleeeeeeeze! I've had a few thoughts of my own and would like to share them with you. Whether you are pushing 40, 50, 60 (or maybe even just pushing your luck), you'll probably relate. Mid-life is when the growth of hair on our legs slows down. This gives us plenty of time to care for our newly acquired mustache. In mid-life women no longer have upper arms, we have wing spans. Mid-life is when you can stand naked in front of a mirror and you can see your rear without turning around. Mid-life is when you go for a mammogram and you realize that this is the only time someone will ask you to appear topless. Mid-life is when you want to grab every firm young lovely in a tube top and scream, 'Listen, honey, even the Roman empire fell and those will too.' Mid-life brings wisdom to know that life throws us curves and we're sitting on our biggest ones. In mid-life your memory starts to go. In fact the only thing we can retain is water. Mid-life means that you become more reflective. You start pondering the 'big' questions. What is life? Why am I here? How much Healthy Choice ice cream can I eat before it's no longer a healthy choice? But mid-life also brings with it an appreciation for what is important. We realize that breasts sag, hips expand, and chins double, but our loved ones make the journey worthwhile. Would any of you trade the knowledge that you have now, for the body you had way back when? Maybe our bodies simply have to expand to hold all the wisdom and love we've acquired. That's my philosophy and I'm sticking to it!
Know you are loved!!
You go girl!!

And the survey says......

Remember the question was....do you dust, then vacuum....or vacuum, then dust?
Eight of you.....Vacuum, then dust
Six of you.........Dust, then Vacuum
One of you.......Vacuums, then dusts....or, not
One of you.......Wanted to know the meaning of the words "vacuum" and "dust"
One of you.......Sometimes does one...sometimes does the other...and invited me over to write in her dust!!!
One of you......Does whichever needs it the worse!
(I love honesty!!!)
One of you......Separates hers out on different days
(I like how she thinks)
One of you........Says she does neither (ha! ha!)...
.....but then admitted to always vacuuming last!
One of you......Put me to shame with her efficiency. She vacuums...then waits about 30 minutes for the dust settle, then dusts her furniture....I think she's kin to Ms. Martha Stewart!!!

My cutest answer was of course from Ms. Rhonda....sorry I lied about not using names...but she doesn't count!!! LOL Ms. Rhonda says that the once a year that she dusts....she dusts, then vacuums, which was how her Mom taught her
(Jess had the same answer....like Mother, like daughter!!!)
But...Ms. Rhonda wants to know if the next survey would be how many squares of toilet paper do you use?!?!?!?
So...if you're willing to answer that question...leave me a comment!!! ha! ha!

Question of the Day?

When I was growing up...my Mom always dusted before she vacuumed....so that's my routine, too.
But...my Aunt lived next door to us...and she did the opposite...vacuumed, then dusted....saying that the vacuuming put dust back up on your furniture.
So....the question of the day is this:
In what order do you dust and vacuum....or vacuum and dust???
I'll post the results later on this week!!!

Blessings,

P.S...can you guess what I've been doing today?

Eat More Chikin.....

Pappy and I were eating breakfast one morning while he was on vacation, like we sometimes do...not the eating breakfast part...but where we were at!!!
Sometimes, we go on a "date"....go thru the drive-thru at Micky D's and get breakfast....then, park up at the Smokies Stadium behind Cracker Barrel and sit and eat our breakfast and read the paper....aren't we just about the most romantic couple you've ever heard of?!?!?

Anyway....there we sit minding our own business...and if you're at all familiar with that area...you know there's nothing much around there, except pavement and commercial businesses.

I happened to glance up....and out of nowhere....there was a cow....yes a cow...wandering across the parking lot below us!!! I wish I could have gotten a video of the man trying to "rope" it....he had about as much experience at roping a cow as me!!!

Anyway....Pappy said the cow looked like it needed a sign hanging across it's back that said:

"Eat More Chikin"!!!

Okay....maybe you had to be there...but it was funny!!!

Keeping you smiling.....

One day God was looking down at earth and saw all of the rascally behavior that was going on. So He sent an angel to earth for a time. When the angel returned, he told God, 'Yes, it's bad on Earth; 95% are misbehaving and only 5% are not.
God thought for a moment and said,
'Maybe I'd better send down a 2nd angel to get another opinion.'
So God called another angel and sent him to earth for a time.
When the angel returned, he said to God,
'Yes, it's true. The earth is in decline; 95% are misbehaving, but 5% are being good..'
God wasn't pleased.
So He decided to e-mail the 5% that were good because He wanted to encourage them and give them something to help them keep going.
Do you know what the e-mail said?
