Just a few rambling thoughts......

July is a big birthday month for us.

Our son-in-love's birthday was last weekend (he turned the BIG 4-O), our youngest grandboy is up next, turning 5, then at the end of the month is our oldest grandson, who'll be 12. Where does the time go, Y'all? It seems like yesterday we were at the hospital waiting on our first grandchild, not 12 years ago!

It's hotter than blue blazes in East Tennessee!

This old, um older lady has discovered just this year that the heat is not her friend. I'm finding it difficult to breathe in this weather and I've never noticed that problem in the past.  It has nothing to do with age.....

does it?!?!?

What in the world would we chat about if we didn't have the weather to discuss? I'm turning into my Mom!

Our little garden is doing quite well, except for the cucumbers. We are finding a few cukes but where are bees when you need them? I've already picked fresh green beans and we're getting lots of maters.....so yummy.

Tell me that I'm not the only person whose hair grows like a weed in the summertime. I'm not sure I've ever noticed that before. It has nothing to do with age.....

Update on my she-shed!

Pappy has found me one and the fellow was really anxious to get rid of it, but then things just stalled. He went out of town for the 4th of July and now is dragging his feet about cleaning it out. I can't say that I blame him in this heat, though. If it's meant to be, it'll be, right? I'm learning not to get my hopes up about much of anything anymore, just wait and see.

Y'all, I REALLY need a vacation.

When we went to the beach at Christmas with our kiddos, that was the first vacation we'd had in I truly can't remember how long. Life is getting a bit tedious with added responsibilities and I can't see us being able to get away anytime soon.....

but a girl can dream!  As my Momma used to tell me  growing up, "Nothing ever stays the same."

You know what happens to an older lady who trips over her own feet (actually it was a basket) and falls on a tiled floor? She hurts her already bum ankle and days later keeps discovering sore spots, knee, hip, big toe! It has nothing to do with age.....

We've been having monsoons in our neck of the woods.....

really strong thunderstorms and heavy rain!

My Momma, who for many years was somewhat obsessed with keeping her yard mowed, ALWAYS says this about the rain.....

"It'll make the grass grow!"

Remember last week when I told Y'all about how my cucumbers probably have 500 blooms but I've only gotten 3 cucumbers because of a lack of honeybees to pollinate them? Well, I saw one lone bee in the garden one day this week and if you happened to go by and see me talking to myself, I was actually asking Mr./Ms. Bee to please invite his/her buddies to my garden!  Our grands laughed at Nannie for talking to the bees!

Oh, and remember my desire for a she-shed?

Well, Pappy has found me one but we're having all sorts of trouble getting somebody to haul it for us who doesn't want to charge a small fortune.  Anybody reading this want to help an old lady out?  Here's the shed, but I want to paint the blue trim red, turn it sideways and put a door and two windows on the side, along with a porch! I've got dreams, Y'all!!!

As I'm typing this, I keep glancing out the window at a flowering bush that is full of honey bees. That just makes my ♥ happy to see the bees going from blossom to blossom gathering nectar. I've heard that they're getting scarce....the bees, I mean.....and there's a problem this year with cucumbers developing on the vines because of a lack of bees to pollinate them. Isn't that sad?

We've hit a dry spell here in our neck of the woods and haven't had rain in over two weeks. Pappy has been so faithful to keep my little garden watered and it looks amazing and I've even gotten a couple of cucumbers already. Fotos tomorrow might be of my garden since I don't have much else to share.

I've gotten hooked on the show "Poirot" and now the only way we can watch it on AP is to buy a subscription to Britbox.

We haven't had to mow our yard in close to two weeks.....or my Mom's.....because it's so dry!

Do any of you have a "she shed"?
I'm REALLY wanting one! 
I want to use it to store "my" tools and also to make a portion of it a war room! I get excited just thinking about it, Y'all! Here's one I saw on the Instagram account of Fresh Eggs Daily. Isn't it adorable? I want mine to have a little front porch so that I can put a couple of chairs on it to sit with friends and I'd love electricity and an air conditioner and I've already landscaped it in my head and I'd love a rain chain and wreaths on the door and I can just picture it decorated for Christmas!
 Hey, a girl can dream, right?!?!?

Y'all know how much I love to craft!

Here's what I'm gonna try my hand at next.

I bought some spoons and knives at a thrift store yesterday 4/$1 so I'm not out much if I mess them up!

Wouldn't they be cute to turn into a wind chime, or to stick in plants?

Am I the only one who hasn't had any hummingbirds this summer? I don't know what's wrong. I put out fresh nectar twice and did see one flit around the feeders, but they never returned. I so enjoy them every summer. The only thing I can think of is that I put one of those paper bags tied up on the front porch to keep away wasps (and it really works, Y'all). Would that deter the hummers since the feeders are right beside the porch?
HELP!!!

I've gotta go directly to my dashboard to comments "awaiting moderation".  It's a little more time-consuming and also I often forget, so if you don't see your comment show up quickly, that's why.

I've probably shared this before, but I'm sooooo grateful to the good Lord above that Pappy and I are both retired and can enjoy life together in our "golden years". That was a desire of my heart and God granted it.

I recently jotted down this quote in my journal that I came across.....

"Compulsive behavior decreases in direct proportion to the growth of our faith."

This was both an OUCH and a WOW realization for me.

Often we just need to get back down to basics and God has been speaking to me about trust and faith.....

two of the basic aspects of believing in Him.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that there wasn't a single hair on her head.

"I was running out of things to do with my hair!"
