Ecclesiastes 9:10
Whatever your hand finds to do,
do it with all your might.
Process of making my wool dryer balls.....
Wool yarn given to me by a friend at church.
Lavender Essential Oil, or whatever your favorite fragrance might be.
Drop a bit of the oil onto the ball as you roll it up.
Roll the wool yarn into balls, which took FOREVER....;-)
Wash in hot water in the leg of a pantyhose
(to keep the ball from unraveling).
Place the "caterpillar" into the dryer on the hottest setting.
They should continue to felt the more they're used.
Benefits of using wool dryer balls.....
(from DIY Natural)
- They decrease drying time, saving you money on utility bills. (Especially helpful in the winter months!)
- Commercial fabric softeners and dryer sheets are filled with harmful chemicals and perfumes that coat your clothing, eventually ending up on your skin. These chemicals can be especially harsh on sensitive skin. There are no chemicals in wool dryer balls!
- Commercial dryer sheets can be costly, and are thrown away after use. Wool dryer balls can be re-used for years, saving you hundreds of dollars.
- Wool dryer balls won’t affect the absorbency of your towels, kitchen cloths, or cloth diapers – commercial softeners will.
- 100% wool dryer balls increase fluffiness and reduce static as dryer loads tumble.
- Dryer balls help to soften clothes naturally.
- Dryer balls are made from a renewable resource.
I also wanted to share that I haven't used a commercial fabric softener in over a year, due to allergies suffered by our youngest grandson. Even laying on my clothing would cause his face to chaff. So, I started using white vinegar.....and, no it doesn't leave the smell in your clothing. I was afraid of that, too. I just pour the vinegar into the fabric softener dispenser and also add a couple of drops of Lavender Oil. This works great for those who have skin allergies.....
and, it's CHEAP!
