{ A Tuesday Tutorial }

It's been a long time since I've shared a craft.

This one is super-duper simple and I'm sure a bunch of you have already made something similar. Since Valentine's Day is just around the corner and I love little banners here's what I came up with.

Sunday afternoon we went to our local Dollar General Store and I purchased a roll of burlap ribbon ($1.50), a package of jute ($1.50) and a package of felt stickers ($1.00).  I'm sorry, I didn't get a pic of the burlap on the roll, so I'm not sure what the length was but I'm thinking 9 yards.

I cut the burlap in lengths of about 5.5 inches, folded and cut a notch in the bottom of each one, peeled the backing off the hearts and stuck one on each of the burlap sections. The adhesive was enough that they stuck really well but should any of them come loose, I'll hot glue them back on.

I folded a section of about 1/2 inch on the top of each piece and hot glued it to the twine, leaving about 2 inches between each piece of burlap. Be sure and leave about a 12" length of twine on each end of the banner.   Sorry, no pics of this because I'm not coordinated enough use a hot glue gun in one hand and the phone in another.

And, voila.....

here's the finished product hanging on the bottom of the shelf over our table.  I ♥ decorating this shelf for holidays/seasons.

It's hard to believe I only posted twice since our last FFF link-up.  Not blogging was sort of an "accidentally on purpose" thing.  It wasn't intentional at first, but I found it was so very nice to have the break and it made me think about my future blogging, especially during this time of Lent.  But that's something to share another day.

My miniature rose bush Pappy got me for Valentine's Day.....

This is as close as I've been to the beach in over 10 years....gulls in a parking lot in Jefferson City.  If you stop your car, they bombard you because they think you're gonna throw out food to them.

I can never get enough of seeing our American flag flying in the breeze, and I love the Tennessee flag flying below it!

{ A True Love Story }

As we celebrate Valentine's Day today, I can't help but think of the ultimate LOVE Story......

the relationship between God and His Children.  We sometimes have unrealistic expectations from those we love, especially our spouse (or is that just me?). 

 There is only ONE who truly understands me and knows me like no Other.

Now, before you get the wrong idea....let me clarify that statement!!!  I'm in the mood to decorate for the big "love" day!!!  Hubby brought my big red tote upstairs yesterday so I could dig thru and put out some of my "Owl"entine things.  Since I love all things "vintage"....I thought it would be neat to share some of the vintage Valentine's I found....with little olwies, of course!!!  I plan to print some of these and hang them on my little Valentine tree using pretty ribbon....from The Dollar Tree, of course!!!

And....this one has to be my favorite....can you guess why?!?!?

I think this might be the best picture I've ever taken!!!  
This rose is called the "peace rose".  

Hubby has purchased me this type of roses for years....all the way back to when Jess was born 31 years ago.  When I went into Dollar General Store, they were selling these single roses and I bought him one for Valentine's Day.  

He was so tickled!!!
