{ THANK-full Thursday }

Running really late, but here's my THANK-full post for today.....

*went into Big Lots looking for just the right hummingbird feeder and walked out with just the right hummingbird feeder.....
and, it was marked down!

*so grateful our sweet girl still wants to hang out with her old Mom.  She called this afternoon to ask if I'd like to go somewhere with her Saturday morning.
"YES"!

*thankful that the little birdies are still building nests around our house.....
except this time it's in my hanging fern. Breathe a little prayer that I don't drown the babies when watering!

*so happy to find some thrift store goodies this week - a couple of "new to me" tops, a skirt and a little mirror.

*I'm so happy that I got both the front and back doors painted this week, something that's been on my "to do" list for quite some time.  Now to get the storm doors spray painted!

*driving through Rocky Valley early this morning.  If you've followed me here very long, you know that's one of my favorite drives!

*and.....
since I don't sleep well....at all....I was so thankful to get to take an over 2 hour nap this afternoon.

{ Friday Foto Friends #55 }

I had a post all planned out for today, but.....
well, life gets in the way, and that's perfectly okay, because the "life" that got in the way was time spent with family.  We had a great time with Pappy's brothers and sisters and their kids, grand-kids and even a few greats
(of course, they're all great).
After we left there, our kids and grands came back to our house to play and look at the black Friday sale ads.

So, since I didn't get a chance to take any pics of my CHRISTmas decorations, I'll share just this one that I took and posted on Instagram.  This is the first Christmas in 40 Christmases together that our tree has been put up this early.  Pappy will be home with me to enjoy it this year, too, and that makes my heart happy!

It's not a very clear picture, but I bet you can still see the owlies all over it.  I'll get more pics later and also some more of our decorations around the house and on the front porch!

HOPE everybody had a great THANKSgiving!

{ Wednesday's Word - Suffering }

A few weeks ago I shared a little book of scriptures that I compiled for somebody going thru a rough time on their job.  That someone is my husband.  You might recall that he was out of work for exactly a year, almost the entire year of 2012.  The job he is doing now is a type of ministry, something we prayed for, and he truly feels it is where God placed him.  With that being said, though, he is suffering persecution.....terribly.....to the point that it's affecting his health.  This isn't the first time that I've seen him go through a really hard time because of his convictions, and it's heart-breaking to see somebody you love suffer for doing good.....
for standing up for their beliefs, for what is right.....
even if it means standing alone.

I know God has a plan.....
and it's a good one.....
we just have to keep trusting and keeping our HOPE in HIM!!!

May I ask you to add my hubby to your prayer list.
I know I have so many readers who are true prayer warriors.

{ InstaFriday #6 }

This is my first time joining Ms. Tori for her InstaFriday link-up!
If you get a chance, please pay her a visit.
She's so precious and cute and I can't even believe she has grown kiddos, 'cause she looks like a teenager herself.  And, she has such a special heart for Jesus!  You can find her here.....

Our church celebrated our "Special Friends" this past SONday morning, and the service was so much fun.  Pastor Bruce read the story of David and Goliath and he used two of our friends to represent David and Goliath.  The workers were the soldiers, the rest of the Special Friends represented the Israelites, and the congregation, the Philistines.  Each time he said any of those words, we all had something to do/say.  The soldiers would tremble, the Israelites would cheer, the Philistines would boo, Goliath would show his muscles and David would baaa like a sheep.  This ministry holds such a special place in my heart, as Pappy is a part of their skits when they visit other churches.  But, it's not just that.....these "kids" (they are to me) are so unique and kind and you wouldn't believe the great hugs I get from them.
(by the way, that first fellow in the picture is Pappy)

It takes so little to be an encouragement sometimes.
My sweet  friend, Ms. Stephanie, from church left this message on my blog one day this week and I just had to share it and let her know how it touched my heart.  It actually made me cry!

Jess returned from a dental appointment to pick up the kids and had a gift for me from the hygienist.  Ms. Tracy knows how much I love cardinals and she had bought this just for me.
WOW!!
God sends us little blessings in the most unique ways sometimes!

I received a text from one of my oldest friends.....
not in age, but in years we've known each other....LOL!!
She told me to check my mailbox and her hubby had left a gift from her with these little cuties inside!
She knew I hadn't been feeling well from the infection and wanted to cheer me up!

As I looked back over some of these things I shared on Instagram, I realized that I have been blessed with some really special ladies in my life.  I definitely need to remember that when I get on my pity pot and start feeling sorry for myself!

Ain't God good?
Oh, yes He is!!!

Happy Saturday, All!!

Busy hands.....

 Ecclesiastes 9:10
Whatever your hands find to do,
do with all your strength.....

The past 3 weeks have been busy, busy, busy for me!
Remember my Mom had those 4 trees cut down.....
(one was in the back that you couldn't see in the pics I posted).
We hauled brush and wood and burned and raked.....
then, did it some more!!!
Because of my brother's injury, I spent parts of a Friday and Saturday scraping sheet rock mud off of concrete floors, sweeping and mopping.
 I came to a conclusion.....
our bodies just weren't designed to stand on our heads and bend and move in all those different directions!!!
Even Jess asked me.....
"Momma, do you know how old you are?"
(that totally made me actually LOL....;-)

Last week was spent taking my brother to the surgery center.....
TWICE!!!
The first trip, while waiting for absolutely NOTHING to happen.....
(you can read about that here).....
I got the body of this little hat made for a baby boy who lives across the street from Pappy and me.....
with his parents, of course!

It made my heart so happy to see his  Grandma pushing him in the stroller one day and he was sporting his new hat!

I'm not sure yet what this week has in store.....
but I'm hoping to get a bit of rest.....
because we'll be keeping all 4 of our grands from next Friday till late Sunday!!!
Prayers, please!!!

What about you?
What has been keeping you busy?

Friends.....

Not only are these little owlies so very cute.....
there's a lot of truth in this little sign.
I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason.
Sometimes people stay....sometimes they don't.
They still make an impact on our lives!!

Autumn Owlies.....

Y'all know I love owls, right?
I've adored the little creatures for many, many years.....
long before the craze hit.
But, I've  gotta say.....
their popularity has added fuel to the fire!!!

Since I have somewhat of a problem with all the hoop-la over Halloween.....
let's celebrate the day with little fall owlies!!!

This made me think of our four grand's!
