I've shared before how much I ♥ the Journey Magazine.
So very often the devotionals speak directly to what's going on in my life at the time.....
as I'm sure happens to so many of you, too, in whatever devotional might be your favorite!!!
A recent story really stepped on my toes....
but also opened my eyes to something that I might have been missing.
The theme was about being the type of person who thinks they need to fix everything.....
a people pleaser.....
a form of being prideful.....
ouch!!

I was reminded of something that happened to me recently that I just couldn't understand.  I was met with rejection by a former acquaintance.  I was hurt and a part of me wanted to do everything in my power to "fix" the relationship.  I kept feeling in my spirit to let it go.
As I was vacuuming yesterday morning.....
still pondering on the situation.....
I felt God letting me know that He was keeping me from being hurt and possibly saying something that I shouldn't.
This person was against the adoption of Ruby Kate.
She didn't agree because of the color of RK's skin.
I thought back on the relationship I had with this person.....
and even when things were okay.....
they weren't good.

I think I'm getting better at not interfering when God prompts me to back off.....
most of the time.....
but my prayer is that I'll see His hand working in my life as soon as I hear the "no" to whatever the "question" might be.....
that I'll realize immediately that God is trying to save me from something!!!  
(and if others are involved, that He's working on both of us)

My prayer is that I'll trust Him more and more each day with EVERY aspect of my life.

Her hands.....

This is a picture Jess took of my Mamaw's hands.

She used to lay on the couch and sleep with her hands on her chest.

She passed away in 2011, just a few months shy of her 100th birthday.

Oh, how I loved that woman and still miss her so much....

but I truly BELIEVE I'll get to see her again one day!!!

her hands had known

and touched and felt

they'd held a newborn

they'd kneaded bread

they'd mended sweaters

they'd caressed her man

felt a rose petal

Our sweet baby grandson's adoption was final Wednesday, February 19th!!!

My son-in-law took this pic of Nannie and her loves before we ate lunch at Cracker Barrel after leaving the courthouse.

We are so blessed.

We never thought that being the parents of an only child.....

we would have four grands.....

well, four.....

for now!!!

Happy 80th Birthday......

to my Momma!!!

She's not in the best of health.....

and she's beginning to realize that she can't do what she used to.

The last couple of years have been rough on her.

She had a heart attack in 2011 and a hip replacement last year.

My brother is living with her now, 

which is a tremendous help.....

(to her and me).

She loves thrift stores......

like mother, like daughter.....

 so she was so happy to learn that I'm taking her thrift store shopping this morning.....

and tonight, we'll all meet at her house for one of her favorites.....

dump cake and vanilla ice cream!!!

We love you, Mom.....

Wednesday's Word - Sunshine.....

The last few days we've been blessed with warm temps and beautiful blue skies.....

and sunshine!!!

Sunshine, oh how I've missed thee!!!

This kind of weather does absolute wonders for my mood!

For those of you who can deal well with the wintertime blues.....

I applaud you.....

because I've got to be honest.....

I cannot!!!

Thankful Tuesday.....

.....for even the "little" things!!!

I went to Wal-Mart yesterday morning and when I started toward the check-out lanes, a lady got in front of me.  It really didn't bother me at all.  I just got in line behind her and waited my turn. Coming up beside me was a lady who I thought looked like a Wal-Mart employee, but I didn't recognize her 

(can you tell I frequent this Wally World a lot....;-)

She was looking down each check-out line and when she got to me, she said "come down to #15".  That lane at "my" Wal-Mart is the 15 items, or less lane.  

I had more than that in my buggy......but she rang me up anyway.  

I thanked her....and thanked God.

We talked about HIM while I was checking out!  

I find myself doing that more and more and more the older I get.  

I really don't care what others think.....

it matters most what HE thinks, right?!?!

Monday, Monday.....

Since I don't work outside the home, 

I no longer dread Monday's so much.....

well, except for the fact that my hubby has to go back to work and I know how much I'm gonna miss him after we've been together all weekend!!!

Yes, after almost thirty-seven years, we're still "in love"!!!

But, for those of you who sometimes dread Monday's.....

(and I used to start the dread on Sunday afternoon).....

maybe these little signs will help cheer you up!!!

Spring is on the way.....

Suffering from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) affects a lot more people that you would expect.....

although some just don't want to admit it!

But, like the sign says.....

Confirmation of God's Love.....

As I drove thru Rocky Valley recently.....

one of my most favorite places ever.....

I was praying and asked God for a "sign".....

a confirmation to what I had prayed about.

I drove just a short distance farther, rounded a curve.....

and several cardinals flew across the road right in front of me.

I immediately smiled, knowing that God was answering my prayer.

I don't think it's wrong to ask God for things like that.

He knows our hearts.

He knows we have faith and hope and we believe in Him....

but, He also knows that sometimes in our humanness.....

we need signs.....

confirmations of His love and kindness and forgiveness!!!

Sometimes the "singing" might just be with a songbird!!!
