{ Friday Foto Friends }

 Jess picked me up around 8 Saturday morning and we headed to Alcoa and Maryville for a belated Mother's Day outing ... and she dropped me back off close to 3:30...we were both so tired... but my heart was happy! Can't think of anything I'd rather do than thrift... or anybody I'd rather spend the day with... than my Girl! 

I.am.blessed!

This is where we headed first. It's one of those places where you dig through bins... well worth it. Brand new clothing from Amazon on a separate table for $1.55 each piece... all other items were a little more ...I got lots of good stuff, including 2 garden flags, pistachios, a Christmas tree storage bag, a wood and metal tiered tray, and sandwich bag organizer containers. 

Only purchased one thing here... 

a really pretty stainless coffee mug. 

Loved this place... the lady who worked there was so kind. Only got one thing... a Lands End shirt for $1.00 that I'm gonna add some lace to the sleeves to make it a little more "girly".

Such a cute store on the outside, but I didn't find anything.

I didn't get anything here either... the prices were a little high... but I loved the cause they support. There was a blessing box outside the store and I'd just talked to Jess about a blessing box not an hour before we pulled in there... don't you love how God works? 

All clothing here was 50 cents but I didn't realize that until I went to pay for the one shirt I found... 

Jess and I went back to that area and I spent $1.50 more.  

Not a thrift store, but we went here last... I spent less than $5 on diced peach cups and toilet bowl cleaner... what a combo.  We also went to a really neat little store called Lynn's Discounts, but I failed to get a pic. I got 3 pretty mini journals with scripture on the front... and a skein of yarn...of course!

{ A Thrifty Thursday Tutorial }

If you know me well, then you know that one of my favorite items of clothing is a skirt.  

I have an eclectic taste in fashion and actually don't care one bit if what I wear isn't "in style".  

I just like what I like and go with it!  

And, y'all know that  I ♥ thrift stores!

So, I wanted to show you how I'm going to fix a way too small skirt that I recently found for $3.00 (that was with my 25% off Senior Citizen discount.....oh, the sweet perks of getting old(er)!!!).....

by cutting pieces from a $1.00 pair of black jeans. 

I can use the rest of the jeans for patches when Pappy tears holes in his jeans 

(yes, I patch, I don't throw away).....

or, they were so cute I'm thinking of making a purse out of the top part of the jeans. 

 If that happens I'll share that little tutorial with y'all, too!

Here's the skirt.....

It's a sort of eyelet and yes, all of those little "teardrops" are actually holes, 

but I'll have on a black slip underneath.

Am I the only person who still wears half slips?

Can you even still buy half slips?

Have you noticed that I'm like a squirrel and my train of thought just trails off?!?

Okay, back to topic.

First of all.....

since I'll be wearing a slip underneath I cut out the lining which only went part way down anyway and I'd much rather have on my longer slip. This particular skirt has a zipper and no waistband which is going to make the fix much easier.  I then cut each side seam part way down and stretched it apart until I had a "V" shape where the piece of black denim was then pinned. Look at how much room this is going to give me in the waist area. I haven't sewn it together yet, hence the pens, but I'm just going to sew it on the outside because I'll be wearing a really cute crocheted shell (a yard sale find) underneath and a black denim jacket that will go with this skirt just perfectly!

I'd love to hear your tips on how you do repairs or mending or refashion thrift store finds to fit.

Friday Foto.....

Oh, how we're enjoying Pappy's extended time off to celebrate my......

B-I-G SIX-O!

We spent ALL DAY yesterday exploring Goodwill Stores and came home with a truck load of goodies, for not much $$$$$.

This particular Goodwill is in Asheville, NC.

One side is a training center,

the center portion is the Outlet.....

yes, Goodwill has an outlet of things that don't sell in the regular store.

And, another area is the "retail" store.

Let me just say.....

our grandkids racked up!!!

After working up an appetite digging thru table after table,

we had a "free" lunch at Cracker Barrel.

I might share next week some of the goodies we got.....
