Horray for the red, white and burlap.....

My best friend ♥'s all things patriotic.....

and I love making things for her.

We made plans to meet for lunch yesterday and I just had to take her a little something to help her celebrate July 4th!!

I bought the stars and stripes burlap at Wal-Mart and found a pillow insert, new in the package, at my favorite thrift store.....

and it was even down filled!!

The back of the pillow is simply muslin that I had on hand,
and I overlapped it (envelope style) so it can be taken off.

And, she also got a little patriotic banner.

Again, the fabric came from Wally World,

and I already had the quilt binding on hand,

so I just cut out the pennants with pinking shears and sewed them on.....

So that's that about that,

as my Mammie used to say!

(I love that saying)

But, what about y'all?

Don't Worry.....Bee Happy.....Summer's Here.....

As y'all know, my name is Deb.....

which is short for Debra!

I've always liked the fact that my Mom chose to spell my name that way, 

instead of Deborah!

Just because I like being different!!!

(and that I am, that's for sure....LOL)

Anyway, here's the meaning of my name......

1. The name Debra is a Hebrew baby name. In Hebrew the meaning of the name Debra is: Bee. Deborah was the Biblical prophetess who summoned Barak to battle against an army of invaders. After the battle she wrote a victory song which is part of the Book of Judges.

The fact that my name means "bee" came to mind one day this week when I received an e-mail from Alenka's Printables. The site has some really neat things to print....and they're FREE!!

Well, his big brother found one at Goodwill and Momma bought it.

He was absolutely on Cloud Nine!!!

Jess and the boys helped out at Sevier County Food Ministries this week.

(our boys bagged potatoes).....

and afterward they had lunch at Subway!!!

Aren't they the most handsome 6.5 and almost 8 year old fellows you've ever laid eyes on?

I didn't get a pic of Baby Silas this week.....

Happy Momma's Day....

I'm so happy to be able to celebrate today with my own Mom.

She's been a very sick lady for quite some time.....

feels bunches better after getting the blood and iron.....

but still has a way to go 'till we can get her back on the right track.

God's been doing a work in my heart about taking those we love for granted.....

and often throwing myself a pity party because of the past.

I guess that's something a lot of us do from time to time....

but we really do need to let it go and move on!!!

Thankful Thursday.....

(my Mom - April 8, 2014)

Thanks to all my sweet blogging friends who prayed for my Mom.

She had the heart cath yesterday morning and, although she does have blockages, her heart is no worse than it was when she had the major heart attack in October of 2011, so her cardiologist didn't place any stents.  Her problem all along has been that she's anemic, something that has happened off and on since the heart attack, which itself was caused from dehydration because of a GI bleed.   All of her symptoms can be attributed to an iron and B-12 deficiency.  She was given 3 units of blood total and intravenous iron.  She actually has pink cheeks now!!!  

Ain't God good?

Oh, yes He is!!!

We've had this pink dogwood tree for over ten years and it's NEVER bloomed.....

until this year.....

and it only had this one little flower on it.

It's just a bit sad, don't you think?

Our two oldest grand-boys were on the radio last night.
Ms. Laura West asked them to participate in her weekly radio broadcast.

She was at our church a couple of months ago and she's just simply amazing.

Pappy and I kept the two "little's" while the boys were "on the air",
and we listened as they were asked questions about their lives.....
and about God.  Oh, how our hearts swelled with emotion.....
and, yes, pride.....
as these precious little souls were so open and honest about Jesus!!
(and about some other things their Daddy and Momma probably wished they hadn't talked about)

Friday Focus!!!

I recently read something and the writer had a "gimme, gimme, gimme" attitude.  What they had written was example after example of things they wanted and it was really kinda sad.  But, then I stopped and realized that there was something that I had been wanting, but in no way deserve, even though somewhere in my mind Satan had convinced me that I did.  I had to repent of those thoughts and was able to realize that if it happened okay....

and if not, well I was okay with that, too!!!

So instead of fretting over something I don't have, 

and won't miss if I don't get.....

I just changed my focus on the more important things in my life....

like our GRAND's!!!

I have no idea when Sam got so big!

 :(

I painted RK's finger and toe nails....bit of "photo shop" done on the pic!!!

RK refused to look at the camera and See-Saw had the "squints"!!!

I think she was still focusing on her painted nails!!!

So, yes I'm very richly blessed....

don't need one more thing, except to see our youngest GRAND's to accept Jesus

(or Gee-Jus, as our baby boy calls Him) 

into their hearts!!!
